Aueu=t 31, 1983 Section Two Nestleton - Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker On Monday, a beautiful summer day -- five ladies had a pleasant trip to the Lanark Glenayer Kitten Mills. They shopped for awhile - had a bountiful lunch at Patterson's Restaurant and made quite a tour of the town. They also found Balderson's Cheese, factory of interest and saw the lovely old town of Perth. Those participating in this enjoyable outing were: Marguerite Hall, Hallie McGinnis, Marie Moses, Eileen Owens and Marion Hall - all from Williams Point. John and Marion Hall, Williams Point, have an old family friend visiting with them at the present time - Delina Trivett of Oshawa - and she will be staying with the Halls for a few days. Doug and Sandra Day and family, Caesarea, held a Pig Roast on Saturday for over one hundred people - a summer summer roundup for family and friends - aged 6 months to 75 years. A delicious meal - and a great visit! Folks came for this party from North Bay, Barrie, Toronto, Oshawa, Whitby, Brooklin, Myrtle, Utica, Seagrave, Port Perry, Nestleton and a "host" , of friends from Caesarea. A "get well greeting" and a warm "hello" to Pearl Day, Caesarea, who is in Port Perry Hospital due to have an eye operation this coming coming week. All the best from this area ! Cartwright Minor Leage Softball The Pot Luck supper re- Cartwright Minor Softball - for players, Summer Events CLOCA Areas End on Sept. 4 This week will conclude C.L.O.C.A.'s 1983 Summer Program but we will be going out in style! On Thursday, September 1, the wildflowers of Purple Woods Conservation Area will be studied as we walk through a stand of Sugar Maples. We meet at the Conservation Conservation Authority office at 6:30 p.m. The address is 1650 Dundas Street East, Whitby (above Cherney's). If you prefer, prefer, you can meet the group at the Conservation Area. We ask that you call ahead of time so that we know you are there. On Saturday, September 3, our final film and slide presentation presentation will be held at Heber Down Conservation Area campsite, at 9:00 p.m. The topic will be Endangered Species, something that should be of concern to everyone. everyone. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a general nature walk through Heber Down, meeting at the service building. Our final walk will be held on Sunday, September 4. It will be held at Stephen's Gulch Conservation Area. We meet at the Conservation Authority office at 1:00 p.m. or once again you may choose to go to the area. If you have not been out to any of the walks yet, this one is a must! The forest will (hopefully) be taking on its beautiful fall colours by this date. Lions Club Activities The Lions Club members were kept busy at Blackstock Fair last Saturday --■ first- they entered a Float in the parade - then later- the Lions sold 50-50 draw tickets in aid of the new baseball diamond at Blackstock. The winner of the draw was Grant Wright of Bowmanville holding ticket number 1264. The Lions also had Crown and Anchor games and Ring Toss for bottles of pop for the young fry. Caesarea Euchre At the Wednesday evening card party first prize winner was Joyce Bosley with 88. Second- Pearl Day and Henry Visser tied with 78. Gwen Robbins had the low score of 46. A very good attendance. An entertaining entertaining way to spend an evening with friends and neighbours. Try to attend next week. A large crowd enjoyed the 118th annual one day Fair held at Blackstock on Saturday, August 27th - the weather proved ideal. Port Perry Fair is "geared" ready to go this last long summer weekend (Labour Day), Saturday September 3 to 5th - a three day event - with many attractions for all ages - so try to take it in - you won't be disappointed. The CNE - 105 year old fair and the largest Agricultural Fair - will close - after a 20 day run - September 5th - Labour Day. Lindsay Exhibition comes next and opens September 21 to 25. Caesarea Community Church A very good congregation congregation on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Mrs. G. Cameron favoured with a lovely solo accompanied accompanied by organist Mrs. Crawford. The minister, Rev. W.H. Crawford spoke on "Building An Alter" keeping the family family together. Genesis 26: 25th verse. Communion will be celebrated next Sunday.
