Fifth Annual Hunt - Powell Family Reunion August the 6th was a gorgeous day for our fifth annual family reunion, which was held at Wayne and Dale Hunt's, Pontypool. Those present were: Wayne, Dale and Russell Hunt; Jamie, Rachelle and Drew McPhail; Helen and Andy May; Darrell Hunt; Janice Hunt; Lori Nichol and friend, John; Kay and Stan Powell; Seth and Nina Hunt and Lewis and Margaret Wood. Everyone enjoyed enjoyed a pot luck supper before the championship game in horseshoes was played. In this game Darrell Hunt and Dale Hunt beat out Rachelle McPhail and Wayne Hunt, who were undefeated until this point, 21 - 61 Those of the family who did not make it this year were missed, but hopefully they will be able to make it next year. Golden Helmets Coming To Orono Fair Commissioner James L. Erskine announced this week that the O.P.P. Golden Helmets Helmets will begin their 1983 Fall Tour on September 2nd. The popular precision motorcycle team is renowned for giving a superb exhibition of riding ability which emphasizes emphasizes total control of the machine by professional police riders. "Motorcycles are a real asset in those areas of the Province where traffic is a major problem" says Commissioner Commissioner Erskine. "Our motorcycle officers are proud of the skill they have developed developed to better assist the motoring motoring public." Golden Helmets team members are all regular working O.P.P. officers and many have performed with the group for a number of years. The motorcycles used in the performances are Harley Davidson Police Specials used for normal traffic patrol work. They are equipped with two- way radios, electronic sirens, emergency lights and most importantly a professional operator. Commissioner Erskine emphasized that the Golden Helmets' performances are based on precision riding.
