Television Series Shot At Museum by Peter Parrott Even if you're more than, 100 years old, it's still not too late to break into a career in television. That's why the Bowmanville Bowmanville Museum has managed to become one of the favorite favorite locations for a TV series being shot by CHEX TV, of Peterborough. Canadian Characters is the title of the show which was being taped in Bowmanville Bowmanville last week. Almost every room in the Bowmanville Bowmanville Museum has formed a backdrop for the program. In addition, the crew has taped the show on location at the Acres Restaurant and the Orono Town Hall as well as a number of locations outside the municipality. Vic Vickers, producer of the series, explained last week that the program attempts attempts to bring to the screen screen some lesser-known personages from Canadian history Entertainers, actors, politicians, athletes, and entrepreneurs are among the Canadians who have come to life before the cameras during the taping of the 26 episodes Actress Mary Pickford is one of the more well-known Canadians who have been the subject of the CHEX cameras. But a more obscure Canadian was Madame Albani. She was billed as the world's greatest opera singer and she performed before the Czar of Russia as well as other heads of state. Recently, the crew also taped the story of Mrs. Chadwick, who was a famous famous Canadian embezzler and probably one of the best con artists in the world. "In the case of some people, you can't believe how little has been done on them," explains Mr. Vickers. Vickers. That means research can be difficult. Often, the only information available comes from a few scattered paragraphs. Sometimes this data is available only outside outside of Canada. The program has dealt with our countrymen who became famous overseas but escaped recognition in their own country. It also tells the story of native- born Canadians whose nationalities are not generally generally known. One good example of a famous famous person whose identity as a Canadian was not generally generally recognized was Mary Livingston. She was the wife of comedian Jack Benny and she was born in British Columbia. Of course, when she was growing growing up in B.C., she was still known as Sadie Marks. The greenhouse at the Bowmanville Museum formed the setting for the story of Mary Livingston, as told in a solo performance by an actress selected to portray her. When the crew had finished taping this story, it moved on to the talc of Kootenai Brown, the founder founder of the Waterton Lakes National Park, in Alberta. Kootenai was an all-round western character whose claim to fame was not just the founding of a national park. He also rode in the Pony Express and served as a scout in the American Army. Besides providing a great location for yarns about Kootenai Brown or Mary Livingston, this community also offers a good general atmosphere in which the cast and crew can work. "The co-operation of the people is unbclieveablc," said associate producer Veronica Owens. The show will be aired Sundays, beginning in mid November, here we joag!
