MEN'S TOWN LEAGUE SOFTBALL TUES. SEPT. 6th CASTLE HOTEL 10 BROOKING TRANSPORT 8 D. Watson hurled his first win of the season with Y. Michaud coming in to help put out the Brooking attack as they had bases loaded in their last at bat. The first inning saw Castle go ahead by a 9 - 4 count and hold on to even the series at one. Although Brooking out hit Castle 15 - 6, the base runners for the Hotel squad crossed the plate more and that's what wins ball games. G. Triantifilou was the loser, while being away from the mound for quite some time he was shaky but came back in the second stronger than ever. J. Ryhorchuk came in the first but to no avail. Castle's hits came from D. Watson (two), D. McDanields, G. Weir, B. Cooke and D. Smith one each. Brooking's D. Osmond and D. Hermer had perfect three for three at the plate with T. Bellamy also picking up three hits, L. Wells, two, J. Colwell, J. Ryhorchuk, C. Chambers and M. Burgess with one. Home Runs: G. Weir (C) Grand Slam. PORT DARLINGTON MARINA 14 KRAMPS FURNITURE 4 The Marina Squad was awesome awesome at the plate as they unleashed 14 hits and J. Allen allowed only six while fanning 10. D. Bickell didn't have much help as his team-mates committed seven errors. This put Kramp's backs to the wall, down two games to zero in a best three out of five series. Hitting for Marina was R. Woolner with three, J. Hume- nick, B. Godfrey and P. NEWCASTLE MEN'STOWN LEAGUE HOCKEY Registration Sept. 17,1983 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Newcastle Arena Fee $110.00 (includes banquet) Manganelli with two, J. Allen, D. Ritchey, W. Cookson, S. THURS. SEPT. 8th KRAMPS FURNITURE 7 PORT DARLINGTON MARINA 6 B. Cochrane picked up his first victory in the semi finals as he held the Marina battery to eight hits. D. Ritchey was the loser with J. Allen coming in for relief in this squeaker. Kramps' N. Caruana with his masterful bat put one so far that it reached Liberty St.. with one hop but was awarded a ground rule double which hardly seems fair but rules are rules. D. Bickell, N. Caruana and S. Allen had two hits for Kramps with individuals going to J, Morris and G, Weir. J. Fraser and J. Humenick led Marina with a pair of hits, J. Allen, R. Woolner, D. Ritchey and R. Santomero had one each. Home Runs: D. Bickell (K). BROOKING TRANSPORT 1 CASTLE HOTEL? CASTLE HOTEL 0 D. Rafuse and Brooking shut-out Castle for the second time this series with ten strike-outs and scattering seven hits. Castle had numerous opportunities opportunities to win this match as they stranded 10 base runners including bases loaded in the last frame. Y. Michaud was equally as good with striking out four Transporters allowing only five hits. The only run of the game came in the fifth inning with two out as D, Osmond laid down a suicide squeeze to score D, Tallis, Hitting for Kramps were D, Osmond, D. Hermer, O. Rafuse, D. Tallis and C.
