Guest speaker was Susan Pleasance who described a weekend conference, "Optimism "Optimism of Faith," which she attended at the Delawanna Inn, Muskoka, in June. Susan was warmly thanked for her sincere, capable presentation. President Marion Hoar opened the business period with the reading Faith for One Day. U.C.W. Presbyterial was announced for Monday, October 17, 1983, at Westminster Westminster Church in the evening and on Tuesday, October 25th at Blackstock during the day. Evelyn Locke, Péterborough, will be the speaker. A donation was given to Streethaven and a sizeable donation to Tyrone Church. Reports. were heard from committees. A brief report on the World Council of Churches gleaned from the latest Observer and newspaper reports reports was given. A retreat at Five Oaks will be held in November under the leadership leadership of former Moderator Lois Wilson, focusing on subjects raised at the World Council of Churches. On October 5th there is a Church Council meeting. On November 5th a large catering will require all available help, much appreciated. appreciated.
