Forty years ago this fall, the 1st Canadian Division, part of Montgomery's Eighth Army, was fighting fierce battles in rugged Italian terrain. In perhaps their greatest battle of the war, the Hasty Ps crossed the Moro River near the Adriatic coast in early December and held their bridgehead for many days although other Canadians were forced to withdraw. Their heroic stand made possible the capture of Ortona. The veterans will greet their wartime RSM (now Colonel) Angus Duffy who was awarded membership in the Order of Canada recently in recognition of more than 50 years of service to his Regiment and community. Colonel Duffy's career is the subject of a book to appear this fall under the title, "Duffy's Regiment," by Ken Smith of Toronto, president of Regimental Officers Association. WE RE MORE THAN A t?
