At Home was held on Saturday Saturday evening at the C.C.P.S. gymnasium. Although the numbers attending were not as large as hoped, those who were in attendance had a fine time. Her princesses are- Vanessa Lewerentz and Angela Duivesteyn. On Sunday morning, the Blackstock Sunday School held Anniversary Services at the regular time. The Sunday School students according to long tradition filled the choir loft and presented several fine numbers. The Call to Worship was given by Jennifer and Linda Fletcher. Following the hymn- This is My Father's World-Carolyn Morton gave the opening prayer. Gail Johns read "I Celebrate Children" after which the Primary Children sang The Garden Song. Scripture was read by Frances Grove. Mr. Don Genge, co-editor of the Circuit Rider in the Observer, and former director at Camp Quin-Mo-Lac gave a dynamic message on Celebrate Children. The Primary Children sang His Banner Over Me. During offering, the Junior and Intermediate Classes sang The Rainbow Rainbow Connection. S.S. Superintendent Ruby Van Camp expressed her appreciation for all the assistance she had received. She also announced announced the Family Picnic Picnic to be held next Sunday, Sunday, June 3, at Cartwright Cartwright Park, Caesarea at 2 p.m. After prayer by Pete Reid, the hymn Jesus Loves Me was sung bringing a fine service service to a close. Two groups of Guides and Pathfinders spent the weekend camping at Emily Park. They survived survived an intense thunderstorm and high winds in typical Girl Guide Fashion. The Cartwright Rangers hosted a fashion show on Wednesday evening in the C.E. Room of the United Church. The girls modelled many different Chandelle Fashions during during the evening. They also held a penny draw and lucky draws. Lunch concluded the evening. Congratulations to Shawn Hoskin who was the representative from Cartwright Central Public School at the National National Safety Patrol week spent in Ottawa. He spent from Wednesday to Saturday in Ottawa touring touring the many places of interest in our Capital with Safety Patrollers from all across Canada. On Saturday morning Mrs. Norma Van Camp and daughters Valerie and Marie hosted a bridal shower in honour of bride-to-be Lois Van Camp. A delightful morning morning was spent with Lois opening her beautiful gifts, a social time along with a tasty lunch. • Mrs. Sandy Dowson along with friend from Sandy Cove Acres visited friends and relatives in the area. The two ladies were Sunday evening dinner guests of Catherine and Roy Cor- den and girls. The Lions Club held a successful Flea Market on Saturday and Sunday in the Arena. There were Craft and Bake Tables along with the regular items found at Flea Markets. The Lions would like to thank those who helped to make this event a great success. Winners at the Tuesday Tuesday evening card party were- Clarence Masters; Richard Manns; Bernice Wells; Ethel Goble; Meta Swain; Edna Larmer- with low going to Ken Whittington. Draws were won by Gladys Slack; Leslie Taylor and Harold Swain. Dalton and Kathleen Dorrell, Bruce and Marilyn Dickson attended attended the Convocation Exercises Exercises at Niagara University University when Nancy Dickson received her Master of Science in Education concentrating in Administration Administration and Supervision Supervision on Saturday, May / 26. I am sorry to report \ ^ the passing of a former resident, Bernadette Keuning who passed away in St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, after heart problems this past winter. She has had several heart operations. Her family was all home visiting and able to stay for the funeral. Sympathy is extended extended to her family and friends. On Saturday several friends arranged a surprise surprise housewarming for Patti and Rick Alpe in their new home on Highway 57. On Saturday, Mr. and, y Mrs. Serge Nadeau and 1 Danielle moved to Toronto Toronto where they will live until their new home in Ajax is built. Best wishes go with them. On Sunday afternoon, ~ Babe and Wilf Brown of Courtice celebrted their 45th Wedding Anniversary, Anniversary, at the Bob Bryans' , farm. About 25 enjoyed a buffet supper and visiting. At the same time, two granddaughters granddaughters who have recently graduated from college were honoured- Lorri Fairey from the Dental Assistant Course, Durham College and her sister Bobbi Ann Fairey from the Architectural - and Drafting Course of Centennial College. On Wednesday, the District Annual of the Durham East W.I. was held in Blackstock with the local W.I. hosting the day. They catered to approximately approximately 75 luncheon guests with an excellent lunch. In all, it was a very succesful day. Presiding for the business of the day was Blackstock native, Marjorie Marjorie (McLean) Parr. Dora Martyn was elected 2nd Vice-President. Congratulations. On the same day, Shirley W.I. was hosting their District Annual at the Raglan United Church, when over eighty ladies attended, Congratulations to Hazel Coates who was elected second Vice-President and to June Degeer who becomes Education and Cultural Activities Convenor. j
