Miss Myrtle Tamblyn, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Smith, Oshawa were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bowman. Miss Dawn Vaneyk, daughter daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Paul Vaneyk, Tyrone was ordained into the United Church Ministry at St. Catharines recently. Paul and Bessie had a wishing her well parly on Saturday night at Tyrone Hall. Several from here attended. Jointly sponsored by the Ontario Community Newspapers Association and CP Air, this award honours young people between the ages of 6 and 18 who have made an outstanding contribution to their community. Ontario Junior Citizens of the Year receive a lapel pin, plaque, $200 and a family picture with the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. It proved to be quite a success if watching from the hill was any indication as several were parked on the hill. Mr. and Mrs. V. Peacock had Annie Thompson and her sister Mrs. Mable Smith from California call recently. Mr. and Mrs. H. Quantrill had Mr. and Mrs. John Currier and family on Monday last. Mr. and Mrs. Don Whitbred, Oshawa have been at Sunny- side on the holiday. Our granddaughter Alyson Westheuser has left on a school trip to Ottawa this week. Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock had Shane and Steven home on the weekend. Miss Linda Strothart, Port Hope was also visiting with Peacocks. We called to see our new great granddaughter Deana Fowler, born April 29th, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Fowler, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Fowler and Mr. and Mrs. W. Schwantz, Grafton, on Tuesday. Bruce lives in Cobourg. Senior Citizens met last Thursday as usual and they meet today. The 29th will be the birthday party. Mr. and Mrs. C. Mercer had Mr. and Mrs. W. Terbenche, Port Hope, Mrs. Crombie and boys call last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Mcrccr took Mr. and Mrs. C. Mercer out for dinner on Mother's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Kennedy, Orono, called at Mr. and Mrs. C. Mercer's on Tuesday evening. evening. On Saturday and Monday a yard sale was held on the old store lot by some Oak Hill families. Sympathies are extended to friends and relatives of the late Bertram Trew who was buried last week in Toronto. Several in the area attended. He was a brother of Ken Trew's. Mr. and Mrs. C. Mercer had Glenda Marie and Leighanne call recently. Several attended the yard sale at W. Dean's, Garden Hill, and the plant sale at Dorothy's house on Saturday. We are holding a strawberry, supper June 22nd, Friday evening at the Garden Hill church. Particulars later. Each boy will have two on-ice sessions per day, one of which will be individual instruction in basics and drills, the other a game with emphasis on fundamentals and fun. Video tape facilities (7 foot screen) provide each boy with an opportunity to study and analyse his play. A full off-ice program is also provided including soccer, tennis, swimming, squash, floor hockey and softball. Qualified instructors and counsellors will coach boys in the lectiniques of each sport and round robin tournaments will be held throughout each session.
