6 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, June 6,1984 Obituaries Section Two GARFIELD (I'ETER) MILLER The death of Garfield (Peter) Miller occuired on Friday, May 18th, 1984 as the result of a car accident. A resident of Oshawa at 1265 Pentland Ave., Apt. 408, Oshawa for the past eight years, he had previously resided in Newcastle. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robert Miller, he was born April 26, 1945 in Bowmanville. An employee of General Motors of Canada for the past six years he was also a member of UAW Local 222. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Atkinson, a daughter Teresa of Port Hope, five sons, Robert of Oshawa, Peter of Port Hope, Andrew, David and Kevin all of Oshawa; three sisters Gwen of Oshawa, Phyllis and Marlene of Newcastle; and four brothers, Jim of Calgary, Cecil and Joe of Newcastle and Ken of Orono. Mr. Miller rested at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Oshawa. Service was held in the funeral chapel on Tuesday. Memorial donations to the charity of choice would be appreciated. Interment Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, Oshawa. MRS. LEALA VIOLA CASLER ECONOMY A resident of Oshawa since 1954, Mrs. Leala Viola Casier (Economy) passed away at Hillsdale Manor, Oshawa on Monday, May 21,1984. Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Casier, she was born December 9th, 1897 at Norwich and was married in Toronto in 1919 to the late Leo Economy. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gordon McCormack (Viola) of Oshawa; two grandsons, Gordon Louis of Newtonville, Kenneth Allen of Alberta; and a great grandson, Matthew of Newtonville. She was also predeceased by a brother Alex Lasier and two sisters Wanda and Anna. Mrs. Economy rested at the Mclntosh-Anderson Funeral Home, Oshawa. A private family graveside service was held Wednesday, May 23 at Burgessville Cemetery. THOMAS JAMES SHEEHAN In poor health for three years, Thomas James Sheehan, aged 69, passed away in Toronto General Hospital, on Saturday, April 14th, 1984. Born and educated in Bowmanville, he was the son of Thomas and Caroline Sheehan. He was married in 1937 to Mary Ruth Eelison. A resident at 6 Durham Street, Bowmanville for 33 years, he had previously resided resided in apartments in Bowmanville. Bowmanville. A former employee of Goodyear Canada Ltd., Bowmanville, he had been retired retired for 20 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and served with the Midland Regiment and the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Glengarry Regiment during World War II. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, children William of Toronto, Richard, Donald, Oshawa, Allan, Bowmanville, Ronald, Oshawa, Rosella, Bryan, Pontypool, sister Abie Woodcock of Toronto, Edna Steen, Piclon, Eva Laroque of Toronto, and Arthur of Bowmanville. He was predeceased predeceased by his parents, and brothers Joe, John, Dan and Ted. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, at the Morris Funeral Chapel with Father Frank Mihelic officiating. Mrs. J. Albert Cole provided funeral music. Pallbearers were Messrs. Walter Parks, Ron Pingle and Ray Burns. Floral tributes were received received in his memory from the Voyageur Bus Lines, Hayden McDonald and Branch 178 Royal Canadian Legion. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. THOMAS F. MARTIN Thomas Forrest Martin, Toronto, passed away on May 22, 1984, at Toronto East General Hospital, after a courageous fight against cancer. In the days of his youth, Tom spent many summers at the cottage of his parents on Cove Road, West Beach, Bowmanville and had many acquaintances in town. He was employed for 37 years as an electrician in the power plant of Noranda Mines Ltd., Noranda, Quebec. Left to mourn his passing are sons Donald II. of Aginenurl, Jack of Windsor, daughters Jeanne (Mrs. Earl Manners), Gail (Mrs, Wm. Nyberg) both of Toronto, and sister Vivian (Mrs. 11, A. Pickard) Bowmanville. Bowmanville. Funeral services were held at the Giffen-Maek Chapel, 2570 Danforth Ave., Toronto, on Friday, May 25.
