A speedy convalescence from our Yelverton community to Marjorie and to Jimmy Gray who has been released from intensive care following a heart attack, also staying in Peterborough Civic Hospital. Friday evening callers at Malconia included Bridget and Walter Raez of Myrtle, Maryann and Norman Schreiber and John and Margaret Raez of Oshawa. On Saturday the Schreibers are scheduled to head back home to Leichenstein. Mr. Howard Malcolm is scheduled to return home on Sunday from a week's sojourn in Singapore. More details later. Miss Betty Whittaker spent the past week with Eileen during Howard's absence. A large turnout of Yelvertonians could be found at Blackstock Fair on Saturday. A lovely day probably contributed to a large attendance at the fair. Local residents who showed livestock were Keith Goble and sons with their herd of Charlois. Brian and Bob Goble did well in their participation in the Beef Club and in the Showmanship Competition. It's funny how one meets acquaintances one hasn't seen for years on such an occasion. Those involved with the Fair are to be congratulated on a job well done -- a fine effort indeed. On Saturday evening our community was represented at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Ops Arena. A sumptuous Beef BBQ preceded a dance with music supplied by the Shilohs - a group from Napanee. Myra and Clarence Page have just returned from a two week motor trip to the East coast. They travelled through Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New Brunswick and visited Prince Edward and Cape Breton. They visited a former neighbour in Charlottetown - Mrs. Harold (Sybell) Russel as well as other places where Clarence used to work some years ago including visiting a friend Frank Greene at Murray Harbour. Last weekend a number from Yelverton attended Janetville Fair. Those attending the Janetville United Church Beef BBQ report an excellent dinner. Sunday School at Yelverton is scheduled to commence for the fall tërm on Sunday, Sept. 9th and Yelverton Church Anniversary will be held the following week, Sept. 16th. Mr. Balfour Moore was honoured on Sunday by his family on the occasion of a special birthday with a dinner at the Hagen Restaurant in Manchester. Those in attendance included his wife Mary, daughter Nancy and Dave Robinson and family of Stroud and Oram and Maureen Moore and Lynn. Mrs. Cindy DeGiusti, Catherine and Christopher were overnight guests of Judy and Frank Russo and family. BLACKSTOCK Mrs. K. Samells spent a few days visiting her friends, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Walden at their cottage at Three Mile Lake near Port Carling. Best Wishes to the members of Cummings Backhoe Pee Wee Selects, Blackstock who have advanced to the O.A.S.A. All Ontario Finals in Madoc on Sept. 1 and 2. Members of this fine baseball team are Adam Cummings, Dwayne Frew, Kevin Gibson, Mike Haines, Daryl Leatherdale, Danny Maw, Chris McConnell, McConnell, Joey Muzik, Keith Roberge, Greg Stapleton, Chuck Tilling, Tilling, Brad Traves, Jimmy Vernon and their coach Colin Haines. Good luck guys. Andrew Petrie had the misfortune to fall while preparing the Anaida display at the fair on Friday morning and ended up in Oshawa Hospital for the weekend weekend with a badly broken arm. What a way to spend Fair weekend when he had so many plans to keep him busy. Ian Wallace of Lady- bank, Scotland, arrived on Sunday to spend three weeks with his cousins, David and Kathleen Petrie, Allan, Andrew and David. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Thompson hosted a wine, , and cheese party in honour of the Liberal Candidate Darce Campbell Campbell and his wife, Carol, Wednesday night. Shopsy's Corned Beef Brisket 1-2 lb. avg.
