It is very gratifying gratifying to report - we went over the top once again - over $24,000 was taken in - $2000 more than last year. The Society wishes to say a sincere thank you to all who helped make it the great success it was. Mrs. Doris Taylor, Campaign Chairperson and the Executive Executive are to be congratulated. Nestleton Sunday School Anniversary With Lawrence and Gwen Malcolm greeting at the door a very fine attendance attendance of parents, family members, friends and visitors were on hand this past Sunday, June 2, for the Sunday- School children of Nestleton United Church as they celebrated the Anniversary of the Sunday Sunday School with Superintendent Richard MacKenzie at the helm. Pianists- Betty Headon, Carol Mairs and Karen Doyle. Choir leader- Janice MacKenzie. With Carol Mairs presiding at the piano, the service opened with the Processional- the teacher's choir singing, "Morning Has Broken" followed by the call to worship by Carla Davis. The Doxology was sung and Invocation read by Leslie MacKenzie. After a hymn- Responsive reading was taken by Steven Mairs. Two numbers were sung by the Sunday School choir. Scriptures were read by David Weir and Joelle •Priebe and the Pastoral prayer by Barb Weir followed by the Lord's Prayer led by Kingsley Malcolm. Offering was received by Marvin and Donny Hughes and a duet was sung during the offering by Tracey Doyle and Claire Notman. Hie guest speaker, our own Elaine Barber was introduced by Neta Fish. She presented a very fine message appropriate for the young folks and meaningful for all, based on Scripture passages from John and Corinthians. Corinthians. It was so good to see Elaine again. After a hymn- Benediction was pronounced by Manda Davis. A choir number followed completing a splendid service. As the dedicated superintendent superintendent Richard MacKenzie, MacKenzie, wife Janice and the teachers commence another year- may they have the interest and support of everyone - and a good deal of personal satisfaction for a job well done. Congratulations! Caesarea Card Night The Wednesday evening evening euchre sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary was well attended and the results are: First prize- Gwen Robins - 88. Second prize- Doug Thomas - 85. Low- Fred Lawrence - 48. Dorothy Edwards had 17 lone hands for the month of May. Congratulations! Next Wednesday again at the Centre for a bit of diversion. Community Events Sunday guests with Mrs. Minnie Fisher of Caesarea were Mr. and Mrs. Morley Fisher of Scarborough, Mrs. Alice Richard, Lindsay and son Delton Fisher of West Hill. Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Point Road, attended the special Brooklin 75th Women's Institute Anniversary Anniversary Tea, held in the Brooklin Community Centre, on Thursday last and enjoyed the programme programme and tea very much. Mrs. Stafford Cosway, Brooklin, was emcee for the event and Mrs. John Hall, Williams Point, president of the Brooklin Branch received received the guests at the door. Well over one hundred guests were on hand for this lovely affair. Mrs. Pat Cornell of Toronto, visited her parents Russell and Ed- da Bowman, St. Christopher over the weekend, and attended the Sunday School Anniversary Anniversary service at Nestleton with them. Caesarea Community Church A good attendance on Sunday morning at the Caesarea Church. Mrs. Elsie Valentino of Port Perry sang two lovely numbers "Help Me Lord" and "Calling Sinners" Sinners" accompanying herself on her guitar. Rev. W.H. Crawford D.D. had a guest speaker Mr. Jerry Jonkheer who presented an interesting message entitled "You have searched me and know me" from first verse of Psalm 139. Bob Heayn led the Responsive Responsive reading and Jerry Jonkheer Jr., played the piano for the service. On June 16, Rev. Charles Clarke of Prince Albert will be the guest speaker. Nestleton Presbyterian Church Service was well attended attended on Sunday morning morning at Nestleton Presbyterian Church for the special baptismal service with Mrs. Scott at the organ. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Blain of Nestleton village had their their daughters baptized by Rev. Fred Swann- Katherine Marie, Nicole Estelle and Angela Irene with a number of relatives present present for this special day. The Minister Rev. Swann spoke on "Baptism in the Church" - a very fine service service with deep religious significance. Sympathy Our thoughts are with the family of the late Per Hvidsten of Port Perry. We offer deepest sympathy sympathy from this area - a fine gentleman - who will be missed by many relatives, friends and associates. Sympathy goes out to Kent and Doug Farndale of Port Perry - in the loss of a wonderful mother, Mrs. Pearl Gerrow- a well known figure in Port Perry circles for most of her life. Pearl was very community minded and will be sadly missed. Family News Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dayes of R.R. l, Nestleton were pleased to have a phone call from his nephew Walter Palmer, Nottingham, England, who was concerned concerned as to whether his Uncle Fred and Aunt Mabel had been in the cyclone area this past Friday. Fred and Mabel went to see her sister Verna Abemethy on her birthday on Friday in Stathaven Nursing Home in Bowmanville. She was 88 years old. Our best to Verna! The Fred Dayes attended the 40th Wedding Wedding Anniversary of Leslie and Anne Taylor on Sunday. Warmest wishes for many more! OBITUARY MARGARET PIGGOTT Born and educated at Shotts, Scotland, Margaret Piggott, aged 59, passed away in Oshawa General Hospital, on Friday, May 24th, 1985, following a five week illness. Daughter of the late Nathaniel and Jean Clark, she was married on November 24th, 1943 to James A. Piggott. A member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, she had resided in Bowmanville for 10 years, and had previously previously resided in Tyrone for 20 years. During the war she had served as a member of the R.A.F, with the British Navy and Air Force. She was also a devoted mother and housewife, housewife, Left to mourn her passing arc her husband James, children children Jean, Clark, Wayne and Nancy, Jackie and 10 grandchildren. grandchildren.
