Dr. George Richardson, who, for the past 19 years, has been minister in St. Paul's United Church, Perth, was recently nominated for the position of moderator of the United Church of Canada at the Bay of Quinte Conference held May 30th-June 2nd in Peterborough. Many in the Bethany and Pontypool communities communities will remember Dr. Richardson as he spent 5 years in this charge following his ordination in 1960. Reta McKay spent several days this past week with Bryan Bryan and Lisa McKay in Owen Sound. Several new homes are being being constructed in Pinewood Estates. One of them has been purchased by Gerry Fallis, who is planning on moving in July. Paul Richardson has also also bought an older home on Coulter Drive. A mixed Lob Ball Tournament Tournament was held in the local park on Saturday. The winning winning team-"The Blackstock Krazies" with Brian Dalton, captain, took home $250 with the "Gary Mitchell Construction" Construction" team placing second and winning $200. Hank and Kay Tenhaaf were in Kingston recently helping their son, John, renovate his home, which is now up for sale. John has accepted a new position and starts work in Blenheim next Monday. Anniversary Service The 67th Anniversary of Pontypool United Church was held on Sunday, June 16th, at 11:00 a.m. with a very large congregation present to welcome welcome the special guest speaker, speaker, Rev. Bob Rumball, who ministers to the Church for the Deaf, Toronto. Rev. Rumball is truly an outstanding Canadian, Canadian, dedicating his life to the service of the deaf handicapped. handicapped. He is the recipient of our highest award, "The Order of Canada" and was recently honoured by the city of Toronto Toronto as a "Citizen of the Year". In his message, "Just a Touch", Rev. Rumball told of several instances in his personal life and also in the life of Christ when many people's people's lives were changed by "Just a Touch".
