Collaborate On New Song Tim Southwell could scarcely reach the pedals when he began helping with the music at Tyrone Church, many years ago. Tim's mother, Carol Southwell, herself a member of Tyrone Church choir for which Tim sometimes plays accompaniment, shares the enjoyment of music. Sixtieth Anniversary celebration of the United Church of Canada seemed like a good time to put their talents together and the result is a new song titled "Rise up and Sing", with words by Carol Southwell and music by Tim Southwell. Tim is a student at Queen's University, Kingston, going into his second year in September, majoring for the first year in music. This seems only natural when one considers Tim's involvement in musical activities through the years. Tim played the assembly music in his latter years at Enniskillen Public School. At M. J. Hobbs he was in the. school choir which was called uponl ol perform for community functions as far as Oshawa. Tim was the regular pianist for the weekly afterschool afterschool Bible club which was led by Mrs. Edna Philp and he was the Sunday School pianist for several years. Tim is currently a member of the music team at Tyrone United Church where he shares organist duties with Mrs. Jacqueline Vancyk. During the school year the congregation enjoys Tim's musical contribution the few times he can be home, In the last couple of years Tim has written music which he has played at Tyrone Church unannounced to the congregation. Carol Southwell and Gail llasiuk, another choir member, harmonized the new song, accompanied by Tim, on Sunday, June 9,1985, a fitting tribute to the United Church of Canada Sixtieth Anniversary celebrations.
