During a break - after a cordial welcome by President Norma Frew - Education and Cultural Convener Gwen Malcolm presented comments comments on the Motto - "Life is like a cake - you can ruin it by leaving something out." In her remarks Gwen said - Humour is one ingredient ingredient we do not want to leave out - for humour is the leaven of life. Let the habit of laughter be carried carried from youth to old age. During the busy years sometimes the humour gets lost, but it is so important to always find time for it in our lives. We'd better break out of that shell and buy a silly hat, laugh at a zany joke or grab the brass ring at least once in our lifetime. If we don't what will we have carried from youth to old age. Such memories are the leaven of our twilight years, The "roll call" was answered by naming a cultural event enjoyed, After the meal the members and friends attended attended the Kawartha Summer Theatre at the Academy to see the show "Cake Walk" - a comedy directed by Carol Chris- john, which was much enjoyed.
