Mrs. June Trewin and Mrs. Gladys Potts attended the Bethesda Cemetery Decoration Decoration Day on Sunday. Saturday evening Lars and Dorie Christensen and Art and June Trewin entertained Jack and Gladys Potts to an anniversary anniversary supper at the Bon- Fire Restaurant for the Potts' 45th year together. A wedding supper was held at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Kennedy Friday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Chisholm of Oshawa who had been married earlier in the evening at the Scarborough Town Centre. The bride's mother and brother from Minden were among the guests as well as the bridal attendants. A long time friend of the groom, Miss Elaine Sleeves of St. John, New Brunswick, Mr. and Mrs. Bob McCormick, Newcastle, and Mr. Tony Tompkins of Newcastle, formerly of New Brunswick were wedding supper guests with their cousins. Mrs. Val Lloyd, Sarah and Nicola went a holidaying last week starting.on Monday they drove to Manotick, south of Ottawa and visited with a school chum of Val's - Mrs. Valerie Robertson. Then on to Buckingham, Quebec to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Peter (Jo-Anne) Toews for three days. They saw through the Parliament Buildings, and saw the Ottawa Canal and enjoyed their boat ride. Then on to Ste. Agathe and visited with the lady who immigrated to Canada with Val and her husband Rev. and Mrs. Fred Dykes and also visited with Dick's Godmother Mrs. Winnie Syratt. The threesome went on to Beaconson Fields, Quebec to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moore for Saturday Saturday and went to the Regetta where Mr. Moore sailed. Val and the girls returned home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ian Graham, Craig, Darren, Leslie and little Kelly Trewin, Enniskillen Enniskillen visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Howard, View Lake and enjoyed the corn roast. OBITUARY DAVID PAUL VANCE The death of David Paul Vance, aged 31, occurred suddenly suddenly on Monday, August 19th, 1985 in Bowmanville. Born in Bowmanville and educated at Vincent Massey Public School and Courtice Secondary School, he was married June 20th, 1974, to Dawn L. Stevens. A resident of Newcastle for seven years, he had previously previously resided in Bowmanville. Bowmanville. He was employed by Sunrise Aluminum, Whitby. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Dawn, children Carrie Ann and Kelly, his parents Ralph and Joan Vance, two sisters Carol and Linda and a brother John. The Reverend John Peters officiated at the funeral services held at the Morris Funeral Chapel, on Thursday, Pallbearers were Messrs. Phillip and Bob Harness, Dave Warwick, Rob Haskill, Larry and Steven Chinn. Among the many tributes received in his memory was an offering from Dominion Stores, Ltd., Retail Wholesale Department Union 414 and 2nd Newcastle Girl Guides.
