OBITUARY ISABEL TODD HOWELL 111 for six years, Isabel Todd Howell, passed away on Monday, September 16th, 1985 at Strathaven Nursing Home, Bowmanville, at the age of 90. Born at South Shields, England and educated in England England and Montreal, Quebec, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Lake. She was" married June 4th, 1919, to Herbert Archibald Howell. A resident of Bowmanville for 12 years, she had previously previously resided in Montreal since the age of 18. An obstetrical nurse she had been employed at Women's Hospital, Montreal, retiring many years ago. She was a member of the Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church, and of the order of the Eastern Star where she held all the Eastern Star offices. An expert graphologist, she aided police, universities and corporations with handwriting analysis. Surviving are a son J. Allen of Thomasburg, 10 grandchildren, grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased predeceased by two sons, E. James, and Herbert William. On September 11th, I told you about two welcomes to the community, Margaret Quigley and the MacPher- son family. Now comes the sadder task of saying farewell. Both belong to the Curtis family. Barbara and Beverley Bazinet are now residing in Lindsay, on Durham Street West. Mrs. Hazel Curtis has purchased a home in Lindsay, and will be moving there shortly. Michael James Daniel Knapp, arrived on Monday, September 16th, in Oshawa General Hospital, with an initial birth weight of 8 lbs., 1 oz. Everyone concerned is doing well. Once again, Manvers Township has proved their athletic abilities. The Manvers Manvers Merchants, Ladies' Fastball Team, defeated the Omemee Lioness to take the championship of the Emily Omemee Ladies' Softball League in Omemee. The finals went the complete five games. Each home team took the win in the first four games, and Manvers defeated the home team in the final game, for championship. The team players included included Shelley Hamilton, Judy Currins, Lynn Argue, Dianne Adams, Kim Bit- tore, Shelley Degeer, Dale Hunt, Vivian Palmer, Andrea Baker, Lianna Horslen, Chris Markussen, Merla McGill, Bev McKee, Rhonda Preston and Angela Preston. The coaches were Frank Ashby and Paul Richardson. It was the Merchants' first year in this league, and thanks to local business sponsors, it was a very successful successful year. On Tuesday, September 17th, the newly formed Grandview Home and School Association met at the school, with about forty- five people attending. The group was welcomed by Perry Grandel and the meeting was then turned over to Principal, Mr. Goodhand, who presented the behavior code for the school, assisted by Mr. Allen, Vice Principal. This was well received by those in attendance as a fair and just piece of literature.
