Bowmanville opened the scoring in the penalty-filled first period with a power play goal by Pierre St. Amand. Chris Michelson grabbed the puck in the corner and passed it back to St. Amand who fired the puck past Uxbridge goal- tender Scott Irvine. The lead was increased to 2 - 0 early in the second when Brian Heard set up Chris Michelson who drilled the puck into the top corner from close range. Bowmanville had several good chances in the middle of the second period, ' but were unable to do any further damage until Heard scored on the power play with 12 seconds remaining in the period after Uxbridge had made it 2 - 1 with another power play goal at 2:09. The Eagles appeared to be ready to run away with the contest when Kelly Armstrong scored on a nice play early in the third to make it 4 - 1. Uxbridge's John Miller replied with a goal 1:07 later however, to bring it close again. Michelson put the game away with 5:03 to go on a nice play as he stole the puck from an Uxbridge defenceman and walked in all alone on a breakaway and scored. Uxbridge came up with two late goals but strong goaltending goaltending by George Kennett preserved preserved the win. / . .The Cowan Pontiac Eagles continue their home exhibition schedule on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. against Cobourg, after playing at Uxbridge Friday at 8:30. . . This was Dennis' best game of the year as they fought back hard to overcome an early Pickering goal but just couldn't get the equalizer.
