10 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, October 23,1985 Section Two Small Business Week Observed October 20th October 20 to 26 are the dates for this year's Small Business Week, with events scheduled in all parts of Ontario, Harry W. Baker, Ontario Vice President for the Federal Business Development Bank, has announced. The week is sponsored by FBDB and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce with major support from dozens of community chambers and boards of trade and official proclamations from the mayors of scores of major cities and small towns. Small Business Week is designed to recognize the entrepreneurial spirit of Canada's small business men and women and to stress the vital role they play in the Canadian economy, especially in job creation. This year's theme is "Information: "Information: Your Key to Success," to be stressed at events in 40 or more Ontario locations. Highlights will include business fairs at London, Niagara Falls, Timmins, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Sault Ste. Marie, Stratford and Windsor, featuring exhibits by federal and provincial government government departments and agencies, small business groups, chartered banks, accounts' organizations, police departments and many more. Biggest event of all in the province will be the Business Information Fair at Toronto's Ontario Place on October 24, 25 and 26, organized by FBDB and the Board of Trade of Metro Toronto. It will feature shows by a long list of exhibitors exhibitors and 28 one-hour workshops of special interest to small and medium-sized business owners and operators. operators. Admission and parking are free. Events planned in Oshawa will include a seminar on "Exporting Your Product" co-sponsored by Durham College on October 22nd. Also planned are a series of 1 and one half hour workshops, at the Holiday Inn on October 23rd and 24th, co-sponsored by the Oshawa Chamber of Commerce. Topics will include : Information, Customer Relations, Financing Financing and Evaluating Management Skills - four very important areas in today's business. Admission is free to all these events. Santa Claus Parade to be Featured on New Stamp The Santa Claus Parade, a tradition which annually heralds the arrival of the yuletide season, will be featured featured on three Christmas stamps to be issued Oct. 23. Judge René J. Marin, Chairman of the,Board of Canada Post Corporation, said "the stamp designs, depicting depicting colorful floats, reflect reflect the high ihterest Canadians Canadians of all ages have for the Santa Claus parades." The three paintings reproduced reproduced on the stamps are by Toronto artist Barbara Carroll. They take an onlooker's onlooker's point of view of the parade.
