Before the game was started, the team was informed that tragedy had struck the Port Perry community, in that a member of their Pee Wee No. 2 team had died, when he was trapped by fire in his family barn, earlier that morning. His brother, who plays on their Atom team, escaped. To the Andrews family and the Port Perry Hockey Association, Association, our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of one of their members. The game, started off very sluggish, as both teams seemed to be testing each other and waiting for the break(s). Port Perry opened the scoring and had 1 - 0 lead at the end of the first period. The Flyipg Dutchman had ^ new, member, -added-rio their line-up, namely' '^Richard "Batman" Bateman wearing No. 17, who was teamed up with his brother, Neil "Robin" Bateman on defense. There was no scoring in the second, although the Toros had scoring opportunities, but were robbed by the Port Perry goalie. In the third, the visitors visitors scored three more goals for a 4 - 0 win. It was the kind of game which makes a coach go back to the drawing board and assess the game, which coach Brad Ryder did, as the Toros played the following day, Sunday, Nov. 3, at Peterborough's Peterborough's Kinsmen Arena. Y<r 1 'S' 1*4 Moderate increases for some mortgage terms have not had a dampening effect on mortgage demand, reports the latest Royal LePage Canadian Mortgage Market Bulletin. "The very strong demand for mortgage funds that we have experienced during the last few months has continued unabated," says a Royal LePage residential mortgage spokesman. "And, as in the past, demand primarily has been for long-term funds." According to money market analysts, this demand has contributed to some shortages in long-term money supply and consequently, has placed upward pressure on some mortgage rates: an imbalance currently exists between customers seeking long-term mortgages and investors willing to deposit funds (particularly in Guaranteed Investment Certificates, GICs, the primary source of mortgage funds) for the long term. To satisfy demand, lending institutions have had to turn to the wholesale lending market where the cost of money is higher. Demand for commercial mortgages continues buoyant despite moderate increases levied by some lenders, says Bill Anderson, Royal LePage's commercial mortgage spokesman. The Canadian Mortgage Market Bulletin is based on information from Royal LePage's residential and commercial real estate managers across the country. 7<* ' ' ....
