The following punch and drink recipes were specially developed for the holiday season. Try these delightful concoctions made with Ontario's apple, grape, tomato ana vegetable juices, and then let the fun begin. ONTARIO SANGRIA 1 bottle (1 L) Ontario White Grape Juice 1 can (14 oz; 398 mL) sliced peaches, drained 1 can (14 oz; 398 mL) sliced pears, drained 2 cans (10 oz; 284 mL each) club soda Maraschino cherries ice cubes Pour grape juice into punch bowl. Add fruit and chill. Just before serving, add club soda and ice cubes. Makes 8: (% cup / 175 mL) servings. (Serve with spoons to eat fruit, if desired). VARIATION: Add 1 cup (250 mL) Ontario dry white wine to juice and fruit mixture. Changes yield to 9 (% cup/175 mL) servings. | GRAPEFROST 2i cups Ontario Purple 1 Grape Juice, chilled 1 cup raspberry sherbet %'fcup canned sliced peaches, drained Combine all ingredients in blender container and blend until smooth. Add lemon juice. Meanwhile, in small saucepan, combine water, sugar, aniseed and cloves. Bring to boil and simmer 5 minutes. Strain into grape mixture in punch bowl. Just before serving, add club soda and ice cubes. Makes 8 (1 cup/250 mL) servings. VARIATION: Replace club soda with 2 bottles (341 mL each) beer. Changes yield to 10 (% cups/175 mL) servings. DILLED TOMATO JUICE 1 can (48 oz; 1.36 SL) Ontario Tomato Juice 4 tsp. dill pickle juice 1 tbsp. lemon juice ' lVi tsp. celery salt Vi tsp. dry mustard Vi tsp. onion powder Combine all ingredients in large pitcher. Mix well. Chill for at least 1 hour. Newtonville W.I. The Newtonville Women's Institute met Wednesday, November 20th at the home of Jean O'Neil. Olive Henderson, our president, president, opened the meeting by all singing the Institute Ode followed by the reading of the Mary Stewart Collect. We leave the quilt until December meeting, moved by Madeline Buckley and seconded seconded by Louise Jose. We pay for our own dinner dinner at the December meeting meeting which will be held at the Legion Hall in Port Hope, December 10th at 12 . o'clock. Exchange of gifts not to exceed $2.00. Zachery may be only 15 pounds and 13 inches high but he remains every inch a champion. The 19-month-old Schipperke Schipperke recently received his Canadian Championship designation. But owner Sally Gibbs, of Bowmanville, Bowmanville, notes that the breed is tops both inside and outside outside the show ring. The Schipperke breed originated in Belgium and the history of these small, pert, dogs goes back to 1690. The name can have two meanings. It may mean "little "little captain" in view of the fact that Schipperkes were frequently used as boat dogs.
