The fifth recipient of a Citizen of the Year Award was •• Andrew Thompson. Mr. Thompson has been active in the eduction field as a teacher, a principal, and at the school board level. He has served as both a school board trustee and a purchasing agent for the board. When presenting the award to Mr. Thompson, Councillor Ann Cowman Cowman described the recipient as a "civic minded individual referring referring to his activities with the Bow- manville Lions Club. Mr. Thompson was also recognized for his work with the Bowmanville Museum Board since its inception.
