On Tuesday, December 10th, the atmosphere inside Grandview School gymnasium was in direct contrast to the weather outside; warm and cheery, as opposed to cold and dreary. Mr. Art Rowan was completely completely overwhelmed with the turnout turnout and best wishes from some of his colleagues on School Boards, teachers, principals, parents and students, whom he has got to know and love in his 33 years of representing Manvers on the various School Boards. Perry Grandel, President of the newly formed Home and School Association of z Grandview Grandview welcomed everyone present, thanked various ones for advertising and providing lunch, etc. and turned the microphone over to Mr. Ivan Goodhand, Principal of Grandview School. In a very humorous way, he made the presentation, a cartoon of Art Rowan, a small portrait, and the promise that a respectable picture will hang in the hallway, hallway, to honor him in later years. The guest of honor replied with matching wit, admitting he was nervous, but wanting to take advantage of a captive audience. He will still try to continue following up the special events at Grandview, and pointing out that the Most Improved Awards would continue. continue. Decorating the auditorium were messages from the students, and quoting "Thank you, Mr. Rowan for representing representing Manvers for 33 years, helping to plan the Boston . Wing, presenting Most Improved Awards each year, helping with electives, attending attending all our concerts and ^ special programs. We'll miss you. The light refreshments of tea or coffee and finger foods was provided by the executive of the Home and School Association and the staff of Grandview Public School. Thank you for a job well done. There are some people facing difficult times, even in this Christmas Season. Please remember any of those known to you, and pray that they will have the comfort made possible by the coming of the Babe at Bethlehem. This is, after all, the real meaning of the Spirit of Christmas, which is supposed to last all year long.
