These boys proved the coaches to be masterminds in this game. The Merchants added one late in the game to put the final score at 7-2 for the Goodyear boys. The Eagles' second outing of the past week was last Saturday night, when they were treated to a banquet and had the honour of playing playing the All-Stars in Little Britain. Facing off against the best players from the other six teams in the league, as picked by Gamy Warriner and Ken Harman, the Eagles Eagles quickly fell behind 2-0. Garetn Stone put the Red Birds on the scoreboard on a set up by George Pithie. This was replied to by two more All-Star goals. Stone's first goal was on the power play and he repeated the feat at 18:38 from S. Armstrong Armstrong and Drew Allenby to close the score to 4-2 to end the first. After a shaky opening period period everyone settled down and made a game of it. Webster Webster made some good stops early in the second before Cooper took over and was equally tough to beat. S. Armstrong scored at 9:03 from Stone and Mitchell. Campbell added the tying goal at 13:26 and Dean Baumhauer put the Goodyear Goodyear Eagles ahead at 17:34 on passes from S. Armstrong ana Mitchell. Seven minutes into the third, Shane found the mark again from Baumhauer. The All-Stars then scored two off the draw in the Eagles zone and added a third by Captain Captain Corneil, to give the All- Stars the lead. Just as scoring scoring from the draw had been the All-Stars strength, so was scoring on the power play the Eagles asset. On the power-plav, Glen Campbell Campbell connected, with 1:53 remaining remaining from Pithie and S. Armstrong to give the Eagles Eagles the tie. It has been several several years since a team has tied or beaten the All-Stars, so congratulations Goodyear Eagles. Little Britain' was certainly certainly on the menu last week as they visited the Eagles Eagles nest on Sunday night. George Pithie, of Bowmanville Eagles, mixes it up with a Little Britain player during an 12-8 victory on Sunday night. The Eagles only have two more home games remaining before play-offs start. What a shoot-out. It was 2-1 for Bowmanville Bowmanville after a close first period when Ian Cooper made several several key saves. Chris Shmyr scored both of the Eagles goals with assists going to Dennis, Baumhauer, Campbell Campbell and K. Armstrong. The Eagles scored three quick goals in the second off the sticks of Shmyr, Shane Armstrong Armstrong and Jeff Rohr. Little Britain popped one, but less than one minute later Shane tallied again, set up by Stone and Mitchell. Little Britain added two quick markers in the middle of the period. The Eagles came right back with two power play goals. Chris Shmyr scored his fourth from Baumhauer and Allenby, followed followed by Stone from S. Armstrong Armstrong and Mitchell. The third period became erratic. Penalties, goals and goodness knows what! Shane Armstrong netted his third and fourth in 12 seconds seconds and added his fifth at 18:09. Jeff Reynolds potted one at 14:39 from Fairey and Rohr. Gareth Stone, and Brad Robinson assisted on Shane's goals as did Mitchell Mitchell and John Hartford. Little Britain notched four of their own in the third on some lackadaisical defensive play. The final buzzer sounded with the Eagles ahead on a 12-8 count. AROUND THE EAGLES NEST: Reference was made in the last write-up to the scheduling of games. As usually usually happens, we make comments comments without knowing all the facts. Manager Ron Clemens Clemens has a big chore, staying staying on top of all contacts and communications he must make. When setting the schedule, holidays, other managers' home nights and nights the arena is otherwise otherwise occupied are only a few of the obstacles. We were curious, curious, Ron. Keep up the good work. At the All-Star game three stars were picked for Bowmanville. Gareth Stone was number one, Shane Armstrong number two, and Glen Campbell number three. Congratulations, guys! As my good buddy Werner Werner Wallroff says, the next three games are going to be character builders. Away to Ajax on Tuesday, Port Perry on Thursday, and Lakefield on Friday, and then home to Cobourg on Sunday.
