Wilma Kan- tor opened the meeting by reading a poem "How is your Attitude?" A sympathy card was signed to sent to Mildred Mildred Caverly. The Consumers Consumers Report given by Mary Hall dealt on "Choosing your food." Marg spoke on Cereals Cereals and Crackers and we were advised to stay away from oils and fats. The members members were asked to bring suggestions for raising money money to the February meeting. Verna Robinson chaired the meeting which was on International Affairs. The Motto-Everyone is an Island but here are no limits to the bridges you can build - was given by Marg Hall. Marg spoke about the bridges we cross from the time you were born, through school, the workforce, marriage, new education, community care - each a challenge and a bridge to cross. The Topic was given by Marian Lewis who spoke about the many people of different nationalities doing a variety of work at the Oshawa Hospital and how well they got along together and how kind they were to the patients. We all enjoyed Marian's talk. Wilma thanked Barb for hosting the meeting and we closed by repeating the Lord's Prayer. News from Enniskillen By Betty Wright On Sunday, January 14th our church service was held at the regular time. Reverend Reverend Kelly as always had a special time with the children children before they retired to the lower level for their Sunday Sunday School classes. We sang beautiful hymns throughout the service. Ralph Weny led the first scripture reading from Isaiah 49: 1-7. The psalm selection was next. Reverend Kelly read the last scripture reading from 1 Corinthians Corinthians 1:1-9. The choir sang as their anthem a beautiful hymn under the direction of Ray Ashton at the organ. The worshippers joined in for two verses. Rev erend Kelly based her sermon sermon on "Jesus Christ, the Light Of the World". Our minister led us in several prayers. Dutchman Atoms Defeat Lindsay The Flying Dutchman hosted the Lindsay Atom #2 team for the Young Canada Day competition which was sponsored by the Bowmanville Bowmanville Minor Hockey Association. Association. Both teams were evenly evenly matched and put on a fine display of exciting hockey for the fans. Brent Stockman opened the scoring for the Dutchman Dutchman midway through the first period after receiving a pass from Trevor Baker. Lindsay came back in the second period with a goal scored by Dallas Knowles and assisted by Jamie Fountain. Fountain. Niki Defreitas put the Dutchman team in tne lead once again after receiving a beautiful pass from Jason Maclean. The Lindsay team were not going to give up however and they came back within 30 seconds to again tie the game on an unassisted goal by Dallas Knowles. Niki Defreitas Defreitas netted what turned out to be the game winner, early in the third period with assists going to Derek Hall and Stephen Tabb. The Dutchman team then settled down and played a good defensive game for the rest of the third period to earn the trophy. The defensive defensive teams of Chris Paquette, Paquette, Mike Leipsig, and Chris Baumhauer, Trevor Baker were especially effective. effective. John Marco made some terrific saves in the last few minutes of the game and Jason Jason Maclean received the MVP award for the Dutchman Dutchman team. Michael Koolhas received the award for the Lindsay team.
