The second installment of the Community Cushion Concert Series at Hampton Jr. Public School, on January January 13, was almost as great a success as the first one. The Licorice All Sorts Clarinet Quartet entertained children and parents alike with some of their pieces in their show "How to Listen to Music". They told the au-; dience that the nickname for a clarinet was a licorice' stick. Barbara, Cathy, Tilley and Lyn entertained the' audience with a variety of different numbers. Beloved wife of Milton James Tamblyn, who predeceased predeceased her in 1969, she was born in Newtonville and was the daughter of the late George and Ruth Mitchell. She was educated at Newtonville Newtonville Public School and Newcastle High School. When her parents retired she moved with them to the Robert Nixon farm, in Oro- no. Prior to her marriage she was employed in Toronto Toronto by the World Book Encyclopedia Encyclopedia as a travelling representative. representative. Mrs. Tamblyn was active in church and community Pitch Ini work. She was president of the Women's Association, Orono and the Oshawa Pres- byterial W.A. life member of the Women's.Missionary Association Association and the Women's Missionary Society, and a Charter member of the United United Church Women. At the time of the building of the new United Church, Orono, she oversaw the placing of the stained glass windows for the church. She was a member of Northminster United Church and was secretary secretary of the Orono Horticultural Horticultural Society and a member of Durham Agricultural Society Society for over 50 years. She was also convenor of the Domestic Domestic Science Department. In 1970 she was awarded the "Meritorious Service to Agriculture" diploma. Mrs. Tamblyn is survived by her son Glenn, his wife Lillian May, three grandchildren grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased predeceased by sisters Laura Cawker, Bowmanville, and Eva Leishman, Oshawa. Funeral services were held in Orono United Church with the Reverend Fred Milnes officiating. The organist was Stella Morton and the soloist Mr. Jack Allin, Allin, Oshawa. Spring interment in the family plot, Orono Cemetery. Cemetery. E. Belva Hogan 111 for two years, E. Belva Hogan, aged 79, died on Sunday, December 17, 1989, at 5500 Main Street, Orono. The daughter of Walter D. Clark and Edith Jane Overend she was born in Brantford and educated in a business course in Brantford, Brantford, and, an R. N. degree at Hamilton General Hospital. She was married in 1936 to James Michael Hogan. Employed as a registered nurse and a provincial welfare welfare worker, she had been employed in Brantford, retiring retiring 15-20 years ago. A member of the Orono Reading Reading Club she was a great literary literary person, and had lived a fruitful and well loved life. As one friend said: "She touched everyone she met in a positive way." Surviving are her daug- ters Pat Irwin Lycett with whom she lived in Orono and Shirley Jones, four grandchildren, sisters and brothers Muriel, Evelyn, Norma, Delma and Alexander. Alexander.
