Letter to The Editor Dear Editor: Upon reading your article "Chairman of Fire Dept. Quits Over Policy," I couldn't help but wonder. If all the various departments departments aren't accountable to their chairman, who will be looking out for the taxpayers' taxpayers' dollars? How can. a chairman properly and accurately accurately oversee his appointed department and present an honest report at committee meetings, if he or she is only given bits and pieces of information? information? I, for one, would like to see each department account account for every tax dollar that has been entrusted to them. If all the various departments departments are conducting their business in a fair and honest manner, they should have no objection to submitting submitting copies of purchase orders orders to their department head. Shame on our elected councillors for rejecting Mr. Hooper's request. Is he the only councillor who is truly on the side of the people? I applaud Mr. Hooper's integrity and hope that council will wake up and realize realize his value as Chairman of the Fire Dept.
