Nestleton Women's Institute Annua! Meeting . The lovely home of Neta Fish was the setting for the April meeting of Nestleton Women's Institute. Institute. Although, a very wintry afternoon; everyone was made most welcome, by the hostess; especially Irene McKee, after her long convalescence. The opening Ode and Collect were followed by a poem "Springtime" by Neta and minutes were approved and treasurer's report; closed off the year end finances. The fee sheet had been taken cdre of, for 1990-91, and a goodly amount of Pennies for Friendship; for the International work; will be presented at the District Annual in May. Rika Wygerde reported the District Executive meeting was held at the District President Mrs. Cathcart's home in Kendal and plans are underway for the Annual meeting with Newtonville as the hostess Branch. . A re-cycling bag in royal blue and gold (W.I, colours) was offered offered to members and one each for the president & secretary; will be purchased from Branch funds. Others, were ordered by the members, Roll call - payment of dues ; and "A money saving hint" followed by the motto by Rika - "Enthusiasm like measles is highly contagious." Correspondence Correspondence included an invitation invitation to Bowmanville Women's Institute Institute 90 th anniversary, June 5. Cards were signed for absent members Bertha McLaughlin and Norma Frew. Members repeated "An Institute Prayer" (tune - Bless This House) supplied by Gwen Malcolm. The Annual meeting followed the regular meeting. Last year's, minutes were read, and Rika reported a good balance on hand; when closing the books. Auditing had been attended to. All reports were presented. Election chairperson Winnifred Davison & election secretary Gwen Malcolm were in charge of the election & installation of officers; as prepared by the Nominating committee committee chairman Bertha McLaughlin. Neta Fish com-- pleted the meeting closing with the Queen and Institute Grace. Neta was assisted with the lunch by Elsie Bye & Rika Wygerde; and the vote of thanks to retiring Officers and hostess was given by Rika - the incoming President. Next meeting will be a plant & baked goods auction to be held at the Nestleton Community Centre, on May 2 at 1:30 p.m. Resolutions convener in charge. Community Church Caesarea On a fine spring morning at 11 a.m. ah average attendance for worship at the friendly Caesarea Church, with Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford in the pulpit. Kathleen Watts played the organ for the Service. Rev. Dr. Crawford used as his text -2 Timothy 3:5, with a splendid splendid message; the theme being: "Appearing to be Godly." There is a great difference between holding a form of religion and rejecting rejecting God's real power. Possessing His presence; His love; His forgiveness; to possess Christ is to have reality! Fairley conducted the Service with Shirley Scott as organist. Psalm 31 was read responsively, and Scripture readings were Isaiah 50: 4-9 and. St. Matthew 27: 26-38. Before going to their classes, the Sunday School pupils had a story, explaining the object lesson "A Stone" as the voices of Easter proclaim the Easter message. Excerpts from Rev. Harry was well known in Cartwright; a true son of the soil; dedicated to the land; having having spent his life on the family farm where he was born and raised, raised, in the Nestleton area. A friendly, outgoing person; he will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends. . During During the children's theme, the minister spoke on "Attitudes" and an illustration was of interest. Jesus was humble; loving; courageous ; and we should learn to be loving, etc. The Sacrament of The Lord's Supper was solemnized with Rev. Davis officiating, assisted by Clark of Session Richard MacKenzie and Ken Weir. The offering was received by Glenn & David Malcolm. Daffodil Day - A Success Daffodil Day - this past Friday, April 6, was a great success with all Daffodils sold by 3 p.m. which netted $2700. The girls out selling around the town are to be commended commended for a job well done! These early blooms in the Spring represent a sense of hope and renewed life - and annually the Society celebrates Daffodil Day at the beginning of April - a kickoff kickoff for the Campaign for Cancer. They will progress to the Eastern Ontario Ontario Public Speaking contest contest on April 22. Interim Report Cards were distributed in first period period classes on Monday, April 9. Report cord slips must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to your period one teacher. Formal tickets will be on sale from April 16.
