Very professional looking, indeed. Happy birthday greetings are extended to Mrs. Ella Venning whose birthday on Tuesday was celebrated with a gathering at her home of family and close friends. The closing of the afternoon Curling League of the Blackstock Curling club took the form of a pot luck lunch last Tuesday noon. Tracy Vernest welcomed all present present followed by Grace by Lois Dallas. Everyone enjoyed a most delicious meal. The Executive for next season was elected as President - Glen- na McLeod, Heather McLaughlin, 1st Vice-President, Lisa Philips, 2nd Vice-President, Marie James, Schedule Manager, Ria Hooge- veen Treasurer. The Plaque and. first place prizes were presented to the top team of Carol Gray, Helen Green and Marie James. Second place was taken by Helen Nesbitt, Lois Dallas, Ann Marie Hoogeveen and Lisa Philips. Third place was won by Carol Gray, Anne Marie Hoogeveen and Lisa Philips who in turn presented their prizes to the last place team of Joyce Kelly, Kelly, Ellen Beal, Glenna McLeod and Ruby VanCamp. Appreciation was extended to the icemakers Bob Strong and Vernon Sutton. There were 14 tables of euchre at the Tuesday evening weekly party at the Town hall with the- following winners - Andy Munro, Lorna Swain, James Emerton, Bernice Wells, Jim Gibson and Doreen Ferguson. Eileen Warden was low. Draws were won by Carl Ferguson, Clara Warren, Lorna Swain, Betty Burnett, Bill Berbers and John Archer. On Friday evening the fun-filled talent auction at the United Church turned out to be a most successful financial event as well. A capacity crowd enjoyed the banter of auctioneer Harvey Graham and the fellowship with their friends and neighbours. Butter Butter tarts sold for $12.00 for 6. On Sunday moring at the palm Sunday service at the United Church, seven young people were received into full membership by Confirmation and Profession of Faith. They were Stacey Swain, Michelle Morton, Jennifer Lee, Susan Kyte, Jeff Kemp, Lisa Gilbank and Jennifer Byers. Rev. D. Davis preached a very thoughful sermon on Palm Sunday Sunday and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was celebrated. Good Friday Service will be held at Nestleton U.C. at 11:00 a.m., Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. on the farm of Roy and Linda Brad- burn. Regular Morning Service will be at 10:00 a.m.. On Thursday evening the fifth annual Student Recognition Night, for High School Students, was held at Harwood Secondary School. Congratulations to Bryan Green and Jennifer MacGregor who received the plaques of recognizing their contribution to life at C.H.S.. Bryan, Jenny and their family guest and Trustee Joyce Kelly attended this event. ' Blackstock Womens Institute The Blackstock Women's Institute Institute met at the Town Hall on Wednesday, April 4 with 17 members present. After W.I. Grace was sung, a bountiful pot luck luncheon was enjoyed by all. The President Mrs. C. Adams opened the meeting with the Ode Collect. The minutes and an invitation invitation to the 90th anniversary of Bowmanville W.I. were read. The Treasurer's report was given by Mrs. D. Sleep and Roll Call taken. Resolutions were discussed but no action taken. ; Ron Martyn, the guest speaker for the afternoon was introduced by someone who knew him well, Mrs. H. Martyn. He gave an excellent excellent talk on Programme Planning Planning ideas. He used Brainstorming Brainstorming as a method of generating ideas. Glad to report that Mrs. Dora Martyn will be soon home again from a short stay In Port Perry Hospital. On Tuesday evening the members of the 4-II and their lenders entertained the members of their sponsoring group, the lllackstock W.I. to a very enjoyable enjoyable social time.
