Mr. Yeo is a voracious reader with a particular interest interest in Canadian history and in research on leadership leadership and change. Theatre Troupe to Perform at Schools A Toronto-based theatre company, A Company of Sirens, Sirens, will serve as artists in residence at three high schools within the Northumberland Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education. They will follow the performance with a discussion with students students assisted by school and board office staff. "The experience will focus attention on the dangers of jealousy, and possessiveness," possessiveness," says Sue Seagrove, author of the play. It will help students identify the signs of a possibly violent relationship, relationship, and will deal with adolescent dating expectation expectation from male and female female perspectives, she said. The story line follows a budding relationship be-, tween two teenagers, and the memories of a married couple of their early dating days. It weaves pop culture such as film and music into the performance. "Through this, we begin to see some of the ways a violent violent relationship might begin begin in terms of control," says Seagrove. The Board is sponsoring the residency residency as one of a number of initiatives in a family violence violence prevention program. Insurance Policy Should Save $25,000 The Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education Education is expected to save $25,000 to $30,000 in 1991 as a result of switching its property, fidelity, and boiler ana machinery insurance from a private carrier to the Ontario School Board's Insurance Insurance Exchange. Trustees voted Sept. 27 to move the insurance to OSBIE effective effective September 1990. Because of the switch in September, the board will save about $10,000 in insurance insurance costs this year, according according to Gord Savage, Assistant Assistant Superintendent of Business. Costs for this insurance insurance for 1990 were projected projected at about $100,000, he said, noting that, with the new carrier, costs will now be about $90,000 in 1990. For 1991, the cost for property, fidelity, and boiler .and machinery insurance is expected to be about $75,000, he said. The Board is already realizing savings, in liability insurance through its membership in OSBIE which it joined in 1987 when the organization was formed. Completion Date Set for New Addition At the Thursday Board meeting, trustees approved that the construction, of an addition to the Courtice North Public School be scheduled with a completion date of September 1993 to allow for both the exchange of land and further discussion discussion on the size and scope of the project. Trustees also will ask that the Ministry of Education adjust the alloca-i tion years of the Cobourg/ Port Hope new schools to allow allow two phases for construction construction of both projects. This would allow both schools to be completed by September 1992. And they will send a letter to the Ministry commenting commenting on the shortfall in the allocations for the new school in Port Hope and the addition to the Courtice North Public School. As well, trustees approved the construction of the addition to Baltimore Public School, north of Cobourg, with a completion date of September September 1992. New Policy for Transportation Northumberland and Newcastle school board trustees trustees have approved a revised Transportation Policy which updates the language and, in the case of French Immersion Immersion students, where no written policy existed, captures captures the present practices, and and puts them into poli-' cy.
