The Installation was held, October 11, in the Masonic Temple, Port Perry, to honour the newly elected Worthy Matron Sister Elsa Bongard and Worthy Patron Brother Fred Alton, and their corp of Officers, for the "Love and Happiness Year, 1990-1991." The Chapter opened in regular form under the leadership of Sister Jane Galbraith, assisted by Brother Alastair Newsome. Conductress Conductress Laura Alton had the pleasure to escorting many dignitaries to the East, where 1 they were given a warm Blue Ray welcome by the Matron & Patron. After year end business was completed by Sister Jane; she and Brother Alastair voiced appreciation appreciation for the terrific support given by Officers and members during the Year. The Officers retired for a brief recess. Family and friends of the incoming Matron and Patron were welcomed welcomed into the Chapter. The Installation. Ceremonies were conducted in a highly efficient efficient manner by the Installing Board. During the evening two lovely solos were rendered beautifully by Sister Linda Clements of Laurel Chapter, accompanied accompanied by P.D.D.G.M, Sister Betty Dowden of Pickering, the able organist for the evening. At the closing of the ceremonies, the newly installed Worthy Matron, Sister Elsa Bongard, expressed warmest thanks to Officers & members of Blue Ray for the honour conferred upon her, and for the beautiful ceremony. Brother Fred Alton, also, voiced his appreciation for the honour of being Worthy Patron for the ensuing ensuing year. The immediate Past Matron Sister Jane Galbraith was presented with her Jewel by Organist Sister Carol Morrow; and Sister Elsa presented Brother Alastair Newsome with his Jewel. Many gifts were received by Elsa & Fred from Chapter friends and relatives to commemorate the impressive impressive occasion. After Chapter closed a delicious buffet was enjoyed; enjoyed; arranged and convened by Sisters Judy Mitchell and Noreen Middlemiss; with D.D.G.M. Sister Margaret Jeffrey & Sister Elsie Wilbur pouring tea and coffee coffee for the large assembly. A gala evening for Blue Ray! The minister told the children an interesting interesting story; before going downstairs to classes with Superintendent Chris Davis. The offering was taken by Henry Stainton and Ken Weir. Oct. 16, at Solina Community Hall. Bowmanville Branch was this year's hostess, and program numbers were put on by Blackstock, Hampton, Kendal and Maple Grove. The lucky draws were conducted by Dist. President Mrs. L. Cathcart; and Doris Nottingham and Winnifred Davison, both won a prize. The well laden bake table was soon all sold, as was the Country Store; and the afternoon social time over, refreshments with tea or coffee, brought the annual event to a happy happy close. Nestleton Presbyterian Church Rev. E. Smith of Centreville and Millbrook Churches conducted conducted a Presbytery Visitation service in Nestleton Presbyterian Church, with the congregation of Ballyduff worshipping with Nestleton. He was accompanied by Mr. Anderson, an elder of Cartwright Presbyterian who assisted in the service by reading the responsive Psalm, and the Scripture from I John, Ch. 2. Rev. Smith told the children a "Magic Story using three cards and three important words Faith, Hope and Love." Sunday School classes were then held in the Sunday Sunday School Room. Joyce Taylor capably played the organ for the hymns. Rev. Smith told of his 34 years in being a Minister; usually usually in two-point charges. Faith for all seasons in our lives, keeps us as members of the family of God. Following the service a luncheon luncheon was held in the S.S. Room. Then Rev. Smith conducted a question and answer period, and will send a Report to Presbytery regarding the general status of the two congregations. The meeting closed with prayer. The Presbyterian Church Service Service on Sunday, Oct. 21, Rev. Ron Wallace conducted the morning service with Shirley Scott playing the organ. The responsive Psalm was No. 24, and Scripture from John 13:1-13, Rev. Wallace spoke on the act of Christ washing the disciples feet, to show His love In service to others.
