Bowmanville. after a six year illness. The daughter of Joseph and Kathleen Villeneuve, she was born in Montreal, Quebec, and educated in French Elementary and High Schools, and Ecole Des Beaux Arts. She was married married May 3, 1941, to Joseph J. White. A former resident of La- chine, Quebec, she had resided resided in Bowmanville since 1975. Mrs. White was a member member of the National Ceramics Association, and for 14 years had taught ceramics and folk art in her home studio. A loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a special person to them and to everyone who knew her. A friend and teacher to her students, she encouraged them to be creative. creative. Her advice to them was to "stop and smell the roses along the way," and "if I can do it, anyone can." She was also talented in macramé, knitting, cooking and painting. painting. Left to mourn her passing passing are her husband, Joseph, Joseph, two daughters, Diane White and Susan Long, and four grandchildren. The Reverend Father Harold Leahy of St. Joseph's R.C. Church where she nad been a member, officiated at the funeral services held at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville, on Friday. The organist was Mrs. Helen Helen McDonald. Among the floral tributes received in her memory attesting attesting to the esteem in which the deceased was held, were tokens from the Soper Valley Model Railway Club and the North Shore Amateur Radio Club. He had been ill for a year and a half. Son of the late Catherine and Benjamin Bissonette, he was married to the late Marie Marie Baker. A resident at R.R.2, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, since 1962, he had previously resided in Toronto Toronto and Smith's Falls. For 38 years he had been employed by CNR Railroad in and out of Toronto and Oshawa since 1967. He had retired two years ago. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Bowmanville, Branch 178 of the Royal Canadian Canadian Legion, the Navy Club, and the Canadian Corps, Oshawa. He was also a color guard in the Oshawa Navy Club. Enlisting in the Canadian Canadian Navy in 1942 in Ottawa, he served as a Stoker 1st Class on the Canadian destroyer destroyer Restigouche. He was discharged in Ottawa in 1945. Visitation was held at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville, with Father J. H. Leahy officiating officiating at the funeral services held at St. Joseph's R. C. Church on Thursday. Pallbearers were Messrs. Stan Dunn, Ron Fisher, Doug Blair, Jim Sturgess, Bill MacDougnll and Jim Connell. Floral tokens were received received in his memory from Branch 178 Royal Canadian Legion, Oshawa Navy Club, plus the color guard, the Cdn. Glenn Lander The death of Glenn Lander Lander occurred on Friday, October October 12,1990, nt his home, 72 Division Street, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. He was the husband of Betty Van Alstine, and was. born in Oshawa, tho son of Harry and Stella Lander. For many years he was a banker and also served in the army with tho Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. In 1949, he purchased a hardware store in Bowmanville Bowmanville with his brother Jack, retiring six years ago. Glenn devoted much of his spare time to his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served on the Bishopric for seven years, was Branch President of the Bowmanville Bowmanville Branch for seven years, and Mission President of the Stake, as well as serving in other positions. He was a former member of the Town Council, President President of the Lions Club, President President of the Golf and County Club, President of the Chamber of Commerce, and also served on the Planning Board for several years. He is survived by his wife Betty, children Richard and wife Jennifer, Toronto, Janice Janice and husband John Mainland, Mainland, Toronto, Bill and his wife Lorraine, Calgary, five grandchildren and a brother Jack. Funeral services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Residents Thomas White, Napanee and Stuart Bourne, Bowmanville, presiding. presiding. The eulogy was a glowing tribute to his father by son Richard, followed by speakers President Harold Walker, London, Patriarch William Whitsitt, Whitby, and Elmer Pollard, Courtice. Pallbearers were Messrs Albert Walton, Ross Phoenix, Phoenix, Hugh Coutts, Norman Fenton, Ray Mackintosh, Napanee and Paul Kool. Honorary pallbearers were Messrs Harry Cooke, Jack Brough, Elmer Pollard, Bert Syer, Earl Sayers, Bill Varcoe and Jack Lockwood. Donations were made jn his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
