The evening was a huge success. About 155 women (and one courageous man) came to enjoy an excellent dinner and outstanding speaker. Talking about women's role in the past and present, and sharing her thoughts about their place in society in the future, Maude Barlow received received a standing ovation at the end of her presentation. The meeting was timely in having Manvers Manvers as host since at this meeting, General Manager Ian MacNab made a brief presentation of the proposed management plan for the Fleetwood Creek Natural Area. This area encompasses encompasses some 940 acres, including the upper reaches of Fleet- wood Creek which is a tributary tributary of the Pigeon River and one of the most interesting creeks in the Conservation area. This area of Manvers is particularly of concern because because of its biological and geographical uniqueness and stands very high on the provincial agenda as an area that should be preserved in its natural state in an attempt attempt to preserve the arbori- al cover, and the animal and plant life indigenous to this rugged topographical area.
