Mom was reading "Black Beauty" to us, so Father built two rocking horses; Black Beauty ana Ginger. I'm not sure if they were works of art. They were works of love and had real horse hair tails. My "Black Beauty" was destroyed in a fire last year, 57 years old! The next year I well remember. remember. It was the only Christmas we ever spent away from the farm; in Toronto. Toronto. An uncle took us to the Maple Leaf Young Canada Canada Night. What really made the Christmas for me was my Grandma seeing Santa Claus. She had to sleep on the chesterfield beside the tree because of all the people. people. In the middle of the night she saw him. When I told Miss Cawker and the kids in the junior room at school about it there was complete silence. . I found out 1 was the only one in the room who believed in Santa. I felt a little different about Grandma after that. Christmas 1936 was the first year I ever shopped. My brother and I each had 10 cents to spend. I remember how delighted I was to find a bin of small jackknives for 10 cents each. My brother eventually found the same bin because there were two identical gifts under the tree. His to me had a white handle, mine to him was blue. This year we decided to draw family names for gifts. I drew his name. Now he has two of everything. Mav- be I'll look for a small jackknife jackknife some place. ■ I'. David Craig tyfe WIsIh'iCu A Merry Gmstmas Hoping for you and yours a holiday that sings with joyl Thanks, friends.
