On Sunday, Dec. 30th, at St George's Parish Hall, Post Master Charles Gray was honoured on his retirement retirement from serving Canada Post in Newcastle Village. Assisting in welcoming the many relatives and friends were Charles' wife, Gloria and daughters, Julie Grav and Shelley Moiica, Shelley's Shelley's husband Dominic and their little son, Luke. Councillor Councillor Prank Stapleton presented presented Charles with the monetary donations from the community and paid tribute to his service not only in the post office but also in the community. Post Master Gray made a fitting reply, stating that .he worked 31 years in the Post Office - in Bowmanville, Orono and here in the village village for the last ten years. St. George's Anglican Church Last week St. George's mourned the loss of Doris Spencer who died in her 83rd year on Christmas eve. A member of one of the oldest oldest families in the congregation, congregation, she . attended St. George's all her life. Her funeral funeral on Friday was conducted conducted by the Rev. D. W. Hall, who gave the eulogy. The Lay Reader, Mr. Oakley Peters, assisted and the choir led the congregation in her favourite hymns. On Sunday,. the flowers on the Altar were given in her memory by the Altar Guild. Due to the midweek holidays, holidays, no Communion Services Services were held on Wednesday, December 26th, nor today, January 2nd. On Sunday, Dec. 30th, Communion was celebrated at eight and Morning Prayer at eleven. On Sunday afternoon at the Ministration of Holy Baptism by the Rector, two babies were christened. Wil- mot who built the first Church in 1832. The three month old son of Sabine and Jeffrey Maxwell Maxwell of Thunder Bay was named Michael William. His godparents are Louise Blackshaw and Graham Maxwell. The six-week old son of Shannon and John Alden Wheeler was named Sean Alden Dodge. He is the fifth generation to be christened in the present Church, the first being his great great grandmother in 1859, the year the building was completed. completed.
