Bowmanville, January 9,1991 Section Two Swimmers Achieve New Personal Bests Rotary Families Enjoy Levee at Bowmanville Home by Karen Hillis Oshawa "SPECIAL" Dec. 16th, 1990 On December 16th, 14 NEWAC members competed in a "C" and below level meet at the Donevan Recreation Recreation Complex in Oshawa. The team results had an overall best time improvement improvement of 59%. This figure is a little disappointing but each participant managed to improve improve at least two of their own personal best times. Changes planned for January January 1991, will see an intensification intensification of the program of the "B" group, which will result result in steadier progress by its members. PICKERING REPORT On December 15th and 16th, Tara Arnott was our sole representative at the Pickering Christmas Classic meet. Tara did extremely well at this meet winning a total of 6 gold (50 Fly, 100 Fr, 100 IM, 50 Fr, 100 Fly, 100 Br) and 2 silver (100 Bk, 50 Br) medals. Great Swimming, Swimming, Tara!!! NEWAC December Time Trial Report On the morning of the 15th was the NEWAC December December Time Trial. Participants Participants swam either a 25m or. 50m of each of the four competitive competitive strokes and earned points for their team by swimming a legal race (lpoint), improving on their time (a second point), and making a club record (a third point).. Below is a sum- mary of participating team members, best times, club records set, and points. Christmas in Elizabethville By Edna Thickson (Intended for last week) Last week, I sent the news in the day before Christmas and will now continue continue from there. About 9 o'clock,Dr. Tus- luk, his wife and family, along with those nurses who were available, sang Christmas Christmas carols in the hallways. They used a portable ogran. This custom was begun a few years ago by the doctors and I'm sure the other patients patients enjoyed it as much as I did. Since Alan Mercer and family arrived from California, California, they have been entertained entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Fajt and family, Bob and Ann Mercer and family, Mr. and Mrs. R. Provost ana at home as well. They left Friday. Mr. and Mrs. H. Quan- trill were with their son John and family on Christmas Christmas day. Mr. and Mrs. J. Peacock held Christmas and had Shane and Sophia, Mark, Linda and Aaron, Stephen and Christy, as well as Mr. and Mrs. A. Peacock. Mr. and Mrs. H. Sheppard Sheppard held Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. M. McAllister McAllister held Christmas and had Linda and Steen, Pat, Dan and Bobby Joe Campbell, Tammy and Todd Hamden. Mae Muldrew took her' family of 14 to Welcome Court for dinner and later went to McIntosh's for the rest of the day. She celebrated celebrated Boxing Day with her son Ross ana toured their new house north of Elizabethville. Elizabethville. Beryl left for St. Petersburg Petersburg on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mercer were with Mrs. Glenda Glenda Crombie and boys, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mercer held Christmas and had Mrs. Pattison, Gwen's mother mother and her brother and family family as well. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Walker entertained Mr. and Mrs. Frank Caron, Alain Caron, Sabrena and Melissa Caron for a few days at Christmas time. Mr. and Mrs. McAllister spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richards, De- morestville, Que. I was able to spend Christmas with Suzanne on Tuesday and was at Fowlers for Boxing Day. June and Pat Moore were down for Boxing Day and sJtnyed„over at the nouse. Mrs. E. Ruthven went home from hospital today. All the babies have gone homo also, and no one knows how soon more will arrive hero at hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Trow had Alan and family, Sharon Sharon and family, Joan and family, Noil and boys, Helen and family, for Christmas. More news next week.
