The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. For information, call 683-5135. MUSEUM PLANS USED BOOK SALE -- A giant garage sale/book sale will be held at the Clarke Museum and Archives on Saturday, May 7. The museum is currently looking for donations of goods to sell of any kind. If you've been meaning to clean out that closet, but don't know what to do with its contents, drop by the museum. All donations will be gratefully appreciated. Items can be brought to the museum any time during regular public hours. SYMPHONY NEEDS USED BOOKS -- The volunteer committee of the Oshawa Symphony is looking for used books for its annual Used Book Sale. You can begin dropping off books on April 1. DURHAM TRAVEL GUIDE ROLLS OFF THE PRESSES - The newest Celebrate Durham '94 Travel Guide is now available. The booklet is filled with ideas for short get-aways or longer family vacations right in our own back yard. Coming up are more than 400 festivals and special events which are all part of the Celebrate Durham '94 activities. These include an auto fest, bike race, and much more. BETTER BREATHING SUPPORT GROUP - The Durham Region Lung Association is introducing its new, free program entitled "The Better Breathing Support Group." If you suffer from chronic lung problems, the association can help provide you with knowledge, skills and support. The ongoing program will take place in the afternoons, twice monthly. PHILHARMONIC CHOIR PERFORMS APRIL 10TH - The Durham Philharmonic choir presents the second concert of its inaugural season on Sunday, April 10th, at 8 p.m. at Harmony United Church. Special guest musicians will be the Durham Flute Quartet. The choir, under the direction of Robert Phillips, consists of 45 mixed voices from the Durham Region. Tickets can be purchased from choir members or at Wilson and Lee Music store in Oshawa or Discs and Dats in Whitby. CAREGIVER INFORMATION SERIES - The Public Health Department, along with Community Care, will be holding a free six-week information series for individuals caring for an adult family member or friend. The series begins April 11th. Each workshop runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Community Care office, 98 King St. W., Bowmanville. To register, call 623-2261. PARENTAL AWARENESS GROUP PLANNED - A group is being organized in Bowmanville to address the need for change in the school system. Anyone interested in this topic is encouraged to attend a meeting in Court Room #1, above the Bowmanville Fire Station, on Wednesday, April 6th. Guest speakers will include Prof. Barry Cavanaugh, of Seneca College, Vice President of the Educator's Association for Quality Education, and Maureen Somers-Beebe, a parental advocate from Peterborough. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. DURHAM SAVE-A-HEART -- A variety of CPR training courses are available during March and April of 1994. They include the 12-hour basic rescuer course, a six-hour refresher course for those who have taken the basic rescuer instruction and a six-hour course on infant and child CPR. There is also a four-hour heart-saver course. Locations include Oshawa, Whitby, Bowmanville and Ajax. For details, call Durham Save-A-Heart at 666-0995. BOAT NAVIGATION SEMINAR -- Anyone interested in boat navigation is invited to a one-night seminar at G.L. Roberts Collegiate in Oshawa. It takes place Tuesday, March 22, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons. The program is offered free to Power Squadron members. SAGA FUND-RAISER - Save the Ganaraska Again (SAGA) will hold its fourth annual Match and Win event on Saturday and Sunday (March 19 and 20) at the Oshawa Ski Club in Kirby. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days. It will be sponsored by radio station CHEX, which will be donating prizes in six different categories. The best part about a Match and Win format is that you compete only against yourself, trying to match the same time on a second down-hill mn as your first. All proceeds from the entry fee will go to SAGA. Registration begins at 9 a.m. 55+ MOVIN' N GROOVIN' CLUB - The new courses offered by the Movin' & Groovin' Club commence the week of April 11. There will be exercise classes at St. John's Church in Bowmanville on Mondays and Wednesday. Tai Chi is offered at St. Paul's United Church Mondays. Line dancing takes place at SL Paul's in Bowmanville on Thursdays and also at Orono United Church on Mondays and Newcastle United Church Fridays. For details, call 623-9732. LEARNING * " DISABILITIES ASSOCIATION - The next meeting of the Oshawa Chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association will be on March 24th at the Grandview Treatment Centre, 600 Townline Rd. S. This month's speaker is an occupational therapist. The topic will be motor skills and things parents can do at home to help the child build these skills. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. with the speaker's presentation starting around 7:30. 4-H FUN RALLY - Local 4-H clubs are sponsoring a fun rally on Thursday, March 31, at the Fitness Centre Pool in Bowmanville. It runs from 7.p.m. to 9 p.m. Any youths age 10 and up are welcome to come out, enjoy a swim and learn about upcoming 4-H projects. GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY - The Whitby-Oshawa branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, April 5th, at Henry Street High School cafeteria in Whitby. Gary Edgar, Chief of the Mississauga First Nation, Scugog Island, will be the guest speaker. All meetings are free of charge and open to the public. EPILEPSY DURHAM MEETS - "Getting along with your medication." will be the topic when Epilepsy Durham meets on Tuesday, April 12, at the Kinsmen Centre, Colbome St. W., in Oshawa.
