We are busily preparing all of the final details for this year's tournament, which begins next Friday evening, and will run throughout Saturday at Bowmanville High School. This year is also a significant one for the tournament, as a couple of the divisions have gone co-ed. With a lack of registration numbers in a couple of the girls' divisions, those teams have decided to play among the boys. All of the teams and their players arc listed in today's edition of the paper. ••••••■■■■■a MUSEUM FUND RUN AND WALK -- The Bowmanville Museum will be holding its 8th Annual 10km Fund Run on Sunday, June 12. An extra feature this year will be a 10km walk. CELEBRITY REFEREES -- Those who attended the Jr. C game between Bowmanville and Rockton on Monday night might be interested in a little background information on the referees at the game. The referee, Jim Houston, had just returned from the World *B' Championships in Denmark, and we will have his complete story in next Wednesday's edition. One of the linesmen, Dean Morton, is a former member of the Oshawa Generals. The other linesman, Steve Dick, was almost signed by Bowmanville earlier in the year after attending a couple of practices. Mr. Sub Ends Season with Checkers Exhibition Game The Mr. Sub played their last game of die year against Checkers. This game was to be played just for the fun of it, so two forwards took over between the posts allowing Andrew and David a chance to get some points. Matt Meadows started the game in the Sub net and looked like he had been there all year. Mark Hod- gins from the Rolph Novico team helped the Sub team, as they only had six skaters. The Sub boys lit up the score- board early on a nice passing play, as Mark got the puck to Chris Pcl- diak, who then passed it to Lucas Leskie who put the puck over the goalie and into the net. The Sub's second goal was scored again by Triple F Bowling Results Ron Bonsma 32, Harry Erhct 30, Piet Glasbergcn 29, Dirk Van Ab- bema 27, Jake Dykstra 26, Peter Flonk 24 1/2, John Rozcma 24, Nel Van Abbema 23, Minnie Kaldeway 19 1/2, Gordon De Jagcr 19, Mclle Rozema 17, Geoff Sikma 17. The third Sub goal was scored when mark got the puck over to Chris who took a shot on net. David David McLinton then jumped on the loose puck, shooting it past the goalie and into the net. Dave looked like Mike Bossey on this play, not as Ken Dryden his normal goalie position. The Sub team then made a goalie goalie change as Niko Anastassakis took up the position between the pipes. The Sub team notched their fourth goal when Chris got the puck back to Lucas at the point, who let a blast go that was in the net before the goalie had a chance to move. The Checker's team then scored when they got a breakaway, allowing Tommy Jenning to put the puck past Niko and into the net. Ryan Woods of Checkers took a blast that hit Niko in the head and went over the net. I guess this proves that Niko knows how to use his head. The final Sub goal was scored by Chris on a setup from David and Mike McCrary. The final score was Sub 5, Checkers 1. This game proved that you don't have to be big in size to be on the ice as little Luke Thompson hit everyone everyone who got in his way. This was a fast clean game where only one penalty was called so both teams should be proud of the way they played.
