Think Bowl Congratulations are extended to The Pines teams for placing first and third in the area competition. Under the expert coaching of Mrs. Armstrong Armstrong and Mr. Mack, both teams are busy practising for the competition on May 3 at Baltimore Public School. Our best wishes go with them! Science Fair After a most successful Science Fair within The Pines, several of our students went on to compete in the Regional Science Fair held in the Northumberland Mall on Saturday, April 16. Congratulations are extended extended to all those who entered and especially especially to die following medal winners: winners: Gold - Dan MacDonald, Silver - Alecia Staples and Kathleen Nichols (who also received a special agricultural agricultural award) and Bronze - Jonathon Armishaw. Well Done! School Play This year, our actors, under the expert direction of Ms. Wilson, have undertaken the formidable enterprise of presenting "Les Misérables". Everyone Everyone has been working very hard over the past months rehearsing, making costumes, props and creating scenery. The play will be presented to the public on Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m. at The Pines. Admission will be two dollars. The Junior schools will be given the opportunity of viewing the play on Thursday afternoon With The Pines students seeing it on Friday, Friday, May 6 in the afternoon. Badminton On Thursday, April 21, the Grade Eight Pines students competed in the area tournament for badminton. Under Under the excellent coaching of Mr. Windsor, The Pines finished in second second place overall!! Winning gold medals for The Pines were: Breanne Snell in Girls' Singles, Andrea Et- manskie and Aiko Anderson in Girls' Doubles and John Armishaw and Tanya Goral in Mixed Doubles. Winning Winning a Bronze medal for The Pines were: Adam Aitchison in Boys' Singles Singles and Ryan Muizelaar and Karrie Armstrong in Mixed Doubles. Other team members included: Justine Rogers, Rogers, Jeremy Weeks, Neil Thornton, Jamie Richter, Phillip Williamson, Laura Spencer, Stephanie Birkett, Kim Birkett and Karen Cannon. The Environment Club The members of the Environment Club would like to thank Mr. Giles for his kind donation of cedar trees. The trees have been planted to form a. hedge for our natural habitat. The Environment Club sponsored a recyclable sculpture contest in honour honour of Earth Day on April 22. Classes were invited to create a life-size sculpture using the theme "People Helping the Earth". All of the entries were so impressive that the judges were deadlocked in their decision. All active participants will receive a pizza lunch! May Calendar May is building up to be a very busy month at The Pines! Education Week is May 1 to 6 and includes a v. Community Forum and the presentation presentation of the play. Both grade seven and eights have their trips to Ottawa and Tawingo respectively. We'll report report more on those after their return! Jump Rope for Heart is coming so get those skipping ropes warmed up!
