It will run until January 7th. There are thousands of twinkling lights, magical light displays and entertainment nightly. And, of course, you can enjoy the miniature village, cornplcte with its own miniature Santa Claus' Parade. Special events on New Year's Eve include continuous entertainment and dancing in the Tea Room and outdoor children's games, along with a cozy bonfire for toasting marshmallows. At midnight, there will be a fireworks display to ring in the new year. PANCAKE BRUNCH IN ENNISKILLEN - On January 1st, you can start the new year with a pancake brunch at the Enniskillen United Church. The meal will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children under 12 and no charge for pre-schoolers. on Fridays, January 26, to March 1, from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Admission to this program is free, but registration is required. DEPUTY MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE SPEAKS IN BLACKSTOCK -- The Durham East Soil and Crop Improvement Association will hold its annual meeting in Blackslock on Friday, January 5. LIBRARY BEGINS PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS - A 30-minule program of songs and games for children aged three to five will be held at the libraries in Bowmanville and Newcastle early next year. In Bowmanville, Pre-School Story time will be held Wednesdays, January 17 to April 3. Hours are from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and Thursdays, January 18 to April 4, from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. Slorylime in the Newcastle Branch is Wednesdays from January 17 to April 3 at 1:30 p.m. The Newcastle Village Branch will also host Bedtime Story time. MILL GALLERY OFFERS NEW SHOW - An exhibition by Adrienne Trent entitled Cell/Mess Series will open on January 14th at the Visual Arts Centre in Bowmanville. The opening is from two to four p.m. on January 14th, with the work remaining on display until February 2nd. The medium in this exhibition is colour xerox on acetate and her subject matter combines micro-cellular images and "household mess." Over the past decade, Trent's work has been exhibited extensively within the parallel gallery system in Ontario and Quebec. The January exhibit will be followed by the Visual Arts Centre's twelfth annual "Winter's Harvest" show February 18 to March 8. ••••■••••••• MUNICIPALITY HOLDS NEW YEAR'S LEVEE - The annual New Year's Levee will be held by Clarington Council on Sunday, January 7th. National Home Video Collects Food and Toys This year, National Home Video in the Bowmanville Mall achieved a new record in its collection of funds for the Durham Regional Police Food and Toy Drive. The store raised a total of $1,105.33, thanks to the generosity of its customers. That's more than double the amount collected in the two previous years. The money was raised through a year-round coin box collection and through the sale of movie posters and other mementos earlier in the month. The funds are used to purchase food and toys for the annual Durham Regional Police collection. collection.
