Ron Brown will be leading a tour of Ghost Towns in the Durham Region. Mr. Brown, author of the well-known Ghost Town series of books, will be focusing on areas near the lakeshore, from Oshawa to Port Hope. b'Mr. Brown * has 1 already researched and visited the area and designed a program specifically specifically for this tour. This day- trip will be of great interest to fans of Ron Brown's wonderful books and to people who find learning about the history of the Region appealing. The tour will depart from the Sydenham Museum at 9 a.m., and return around 4 p.m. in the afternoon. The cost of the tour includes bus and admission fees. The bus will stop in an area with a selection of restaurants, or participants participants can bring a bagged lunch if they prefer. Please contact the Oshawa Historical Society at the Oshawa Sydenham Museum at 436-7624 and ask for Cathy or Laura. Some of the agencies represented represented will include the Canadian Mental Health Association, Whitby Mental Health Centre, Interact Program, Pinewood Centre and Crisis Unit of Oshawa General Hospital, COPE Mental Health Program, Durham Region Social Services, Alzheimer Society and more. This event is being co-hosted co-hosted by the Oshawa/Whitby/Clarington COPE Mental Health Programs and the COPE Sub-Committee members. COPE is a program of Durham Region Community Care Association.
