Reverend David Shearman preached a very thoughtful sermon sermon "It Won't Wash Off'. He was assisted in the service by student intern minister, Ron Brittain, who will be working with the congregation until the end of August. Sandra and Scott Tell of, "Smiths' Woods", hosted a family gathering following church service in honour of Shaylyn's baptism. Guests were Tom and Jean Bokovay. Karen Bokovay, George and Grace Durham, Rob Durham all of Scarborough, Jeff and Barb Lockhart and family of Pickering and their neighbours, Connie and Steve VanDeBurgt. Louise and Ron Jorgensen, Gregory and Scott of Caesarea hosted a family gathering in honour of Cameron's baptism. Guests were his grandparents Ron and Peggy Scott and his aunt Jean Mollet of Toronto. St. John's Anglican Church was graced this Sunday with a visit from Royal St. George's College Choir. The members present included Charles Fowler, Tom Wade West, Tim Pyper and Jamie Bcrgstra. Organ prelude and recessional were performed by Tim and a beautiful organ/French hom duet by Tim and Tom accompanied accompanied the Communion. Their moving vocal and instrumental arrangements added a very special special touch to the Mother's Day Service. Many, many thanks to Dr. Andrew Barlow for bringing bringing this group to be with the morning worship. Sympathy of the community is extended to Brenda and George Bryant and family on the passing of Brenda's mother Mrs. "Toots" Ormiston of Brooklin this week. While quantities last. $ee your Dealer for details. by Joyce Kelly Congratulations to Harold and Dora Martyn who celebrated celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with an Open House at the Recreation Centre on Sunday afternoon arranged by their three sons, Ron and Ellen, Blair and Todd and Janet and Todd and Kelly and their families. Many interesting items of importance to Dora and Harold over the years were displayed. A large crowd of relatives, relatives, friends and square dancing dancing associates attended. The Blackstock Recreation Complex Committee is searching searching for old pictures depicting the history of Blackstock over the years to blow up, frame and display in the new foyer of the Rec. Centre. Anyone with any information is invited to call Chairman Blair Martyn or Secretary Wilma VanCamp. Speaking of history, there are still copies of several history history books of this area - namely Cartwright over the Years by Doreen VanCamp and the blue, soft-covered, history of the area by the Agricultural Society. This year, the sunflower Contest at the Blackstock Fair will not have seeds supplied. Instead, contestants should buy their own seeds and grow some sunflowers. The contest will have two sections - one for public school students and the other for High School and adults. Brian and Maggie VanCamp and Nathan, of Saskatoon, are visiting his parents, parents, Richard and Ruby VanCamp, and other relatives in the area. On the weekend, Brian and Maggie attended Maggie's cousin's wedding in Montreal while Nathan stayed with Grandma and Grampa VanCamp. On Monday Ruby and Richard are hosting a family family gathering. Attending are Louise and Jeff Carrell and family of London, Lois and Glenn McLeod and family of Orono, Lawrence and Jan VanCamp, Brian and Maggie and Nathan and Jill VanCamp and her friend Mike, of Bermuda. At the regular morning service service of the Blackstock United Church, the sacrament of baptism baptism was held when three children children were received. Help for Seniors The Clarington Community Care Home Support Program is once again offering a variety of home maintenance services to local seniors and disabled adults. These services include grass-cutting, gardening, raking raking and other small tasks that could be accomplished by a student. There is a large group of hard-working students who are registered with Community Care. This service is available to all seniors in Clarington at a fee of $6 per hour if the student uses the client's equipment. The fee is $8 per hour if the student student brings his/her own equipment. equipment.
