The Clarington Midget Orioles will be hosting the Provincial 'A' Championships, Championships, while Kendal will be hosting the Provincial Midget 'D' Championships. A ORB Newcastle's Jim Shaw will be returning home from the Paralympics in Atlanta as one of Canada's most productive productive athletes. Shaw garnered a medal in each of the three events he entered, hauling in two golds and a bronze. He collected his gold medals medals in the shot put and discus events, while winning bronze in the javelin for athletes with cerebral palsy. The 132-member Canadian Canadian team finished the 10-day event with a total of 69 medals medals ~ 24 gold, 21 silver, and 24 bronze - placing seventh overall in the medal standings among the 120 countries. To Compete World's Best Triathlete Mike Patrick will be representing Canada at the World Long Distance Triathlon Championships in Muncie, Indiana, the weekend weekend of September 7-8. Patrick became eligible for the multi-sport event (swim, bike, run) back in July at a qualifying race held in Col- lingwood. He covered the course in five hours and nine minutes, finishing fifth overall overall in the 35-39 age group. The winner of the race was an American, placing Patrick fourth overall among Canadians.
