On Saturday, October 19th the Devries family from Newtonville Newtonville were our guests in concert concert at our church. Mr. and Mrs. Devries had nine of their 10 children in attendance, including including their six-week-old baby boy. Please note change in date! It's at Enniskillen United Church. There will be games, family fun, and a pot luck supper supper (please bring a main course or dessert). Council Holds First Meeting Courtice South Public School hosted the inaugural meeting of the new School Council on Wednesday, October October 16 th, 1996, at 8:00 p.m. Following the release of The Royal Commission on Learning, the Harris Government Government mandated that all schools in Ontario must have a School Council in place by the start of the current school year. The Council, which is made up of parents, staff and members of. the community at large, is to provide support and act in an advisory capacity regarding school operations. Among the issues discussed at the first meeting were road safety, student safety and the challenges of a growing population. population. Strong parental and community support and the unique nature of this dualtrack, dualtrack, rural-urban school are considered to be strengths that the School Council will be able to draw upon. A social time was enjoyed with coffee and muffins. 4-H Paint Brushes The Solina Paint Brushes 4- H group is off to a great start. We held our third meeting on September 30, 1996 at 7 p.m. at the Solina Hall. Our guest for the evening was Glenn Johnson a lettering professional who has been sign painting for 40 years. Glenn taught us how to space and shade lettering. We are to bring our picture for our final project to the next meeting and we will get started on it. Stay tuned for the news of the Solina Paint Brushes. The Solina Paint Brushes held their fourth meeting on October 7 at the Solina Hall. Eric and Jennifer Bowman started off by telling us what we need to complete for the next meeting. We need to bring our money for picture frames to the next meeting. Eric then told us about composition composition and sketchings. He had drawn four pictures for us to judge.
