Garth Gilpin, Manager of the Downtown Bowmanville Business Improvement Area, said the BIA will have up to 15 volunteers volunteers available. They will "provide an adult presence" in the downtown downtown during Halloween night. The volunteers will be paired with auxiliary police personnel and regular police officers. The use of volunteers to monitor the downtown on Halloween was first intro duced last year in an effort to prevent vandalism. "Last year's patrol proved so successful that they'll be repeating it again this year," Gilpin said.
