Athlete of the Week Congratulations to Nick Hand who has been chosen as Athlete of the Week by the Physical Education Department Department here at Clarke! Nick is a student in his final year at Clarke who believes that being focused is important if you want to be successful. Nick has certainly proven this to be the case through his participation participation on teams both the teams for whom he has played. If he makes a mistake, he goes back out and gives 180% more to correct the situation. situation. He channels energy into the game, not into taking foolish foolish penalties, although he does take the occasional one, he admits! admits! Having supportive parents has helped Nick to continue to be able to participate in so many activities. His British father father was a soccer player; he and Nick's mom have always attended Nick's games and have provided encouragement and even analysis of the games which was always positive, Nick says. Without such support support it would have been very difficult for him to be so involved. involved. The ability to focus has had a carry-over effect for Nick in the pursuit of his future plans. He has been involved in the Co-operative Education Programme Programme at Clarke at the Clar- ington Fire Department, the Bowmanville Ambulance, and by Matt James ~ It's been a busy week here at BHS."The sports teams are off to a great start.
