Thanks to the vision of a Bowmanville couple, many residents of our community who might otherwise be alone on Christmas Day will be able to enjoy a festive Christmas Dinner in the village village of Newcastle. Ashwin and June Parmar are spearheading the project through their local church, Crossroads Christian Assembly Assembly in Newcastle. The couple first approached approached their pastor,. Rev. Rob Brouwer, early in November November with the idea of a community dinner. Others quickly offered their help and everything came together. "Ashwin and June came to me with their idea and offered offered to co-ordinate the event," says Pastor Brouwer. "Christmas can be a lonely time of year for some people. Many families are so stretched financially that a traditional Christmas meal is out of the question.
