Page 19 St. Stephen's Students Preview New High School by Rachana Gupta and Keri Jones The news that St. Stephen's has been waiting for, has finally arrived; we are getting a new school! Word has it that it will be finished finished for students in September of 1998. The computerized computerized layouts are on display display presently for students to view. Personally, we think that the design and various features which the school will include, look great! Here are some comments from two Grade 12 students: "Wow! The new school appears to be very modernized modernized compared to other schools in. this community. I'm sure that the younger students students will benefit from the excellent educational facilities facilities it will offer," Katey Hickey. "Although this school will be ready after I graduate, I'm glad that my younger brothers will be graduating from it!" Chrissy Rester. Richard Worzel, a Canadian author who has written Facing the Future, will be at St. Stephen's on March 24 to speak to senior students. Not only is Mr. Worzel a Canadian author, but he is also a futuristic who speaks on trends and the future, to thousands of people all across Canada every year. He will be speaking to the students about education and careers. Furthermore, he will speak about the impact of technology and demographics demographics on our future, and what jobs Will exist in the future for the students of today. This presentation will give the students students guidance in how to plan and prepare themselves educationally educationally for their futures. Ms. Hurley, from the English Department, has scheduled a trip to see Tennessee Williams, The Glass Menagerie, on stage. This production will be held at thé Royal Alexandra Theatre on April 24. The best part that everyone is looking forward to is seeing Kiefer Sutherland portray the character character of Tom Wingfield! Last but not least, we would like to give sincere congrats to the Midget Boys Basketball team for being the Kawartha Semi-Finalists. Way to go Royals ! $10,000 to Fight Racism The Multicultural Council of Oshawa/Durham recently approved grants of $1,000 each to ten groups. The funds will be used to promote cultural cultural awareness and resolve racial conflicts across Durham. Among the projects planned this year are multicultural multicultural fairs, anti-racism workshops and the creation of murals and posters to promote promote cultural understanding. Groups receiving grants are Bayview Heights/Valley Farm Public School, Durham Dragons Special Hockey, Durham Catholic School Board, Eastdale Collegiate, Harmony Public School, Muslim Educational and Cultural Association, Oshawa Public Library, Oshawa Select Boys' Soccer Team, Oshawa Senior Citizens/Oshawa YWCA and Sinclair Secondary School.
