Don't wait for the snow to melt or the tulips to appear in your garden this spring. Experts say the best time to start spring cleaning is now, when both you and your house are feeling bloated and full. Aside from cleaning screens and storm windows and washing summer and winter bedding, few cleaning jobs need to be done at a set time of the year. Begin by deciding what 'clean' means to you and then tackle all tasks accordingly over a period of days or weeks. The best approach is not to do everything at once. To see fast progress, begin with less cluttered areas such as the living and dining rooms and halls. Start by eliminating clutter, then clearing, dusting and cleaning cleaning all counters and floors. Remember that an uncluttered uncluttered home, while it may not be spotless, always looks better better than one that is dust free but strewn with all kinds of things. Here are a few tips to quickly unclutter a room: . • clear all surfaces of excess bags, magazine and newspaper stacks, other odds and ends such as fridge magnets magnets and the papers they are holding; • place everything in the centre of the room and sort through it all; • decide what to return to its spot, what to recycle and what to throw out. When dealing with clutter, especially your own, be ruthless. ruthless. Discard all unused junk. Throw out those stained and cracked coffee mugs. Recycle those old magazines and periodicals. Put away those gadgets on the kitchen counter you never use. Before putting anything back in its place, clean and dust all surfaces, including baseboards and all those cobwebby cobwebby corners. To clean faster, cluster all your activities by doing as many tasks as possible in one place and then moving to the next area. That includes dusting dusting or scrubbing the floor, wall and ceiling in each area. You can also save valuable time by carrying all your cleaning supplies from one room to another in a plastic bin or a cart. Choose your cleaning products carefully. As a general general rule, never mix cleaning products unless the directions instruct you to. Always keep household cleaning products in the containers they come in. Never transfer them to containers that are normally used for food. Protect your hands by wearing rubber gloves. When dusting, consider using a hand-held dryer to blow the dust off silk or dried flowers. To avoid vacuuming small items, place the foot of an old nylon stocking over the vacuum cleaner nozzle. Ceilings and walls are as important to dust and clean as counters and floors - just trickier. The Kaitlin Group' in Bowmanville Payment ASPEN •V - *■ . IL. a ib§»r î.
