Editor's letter Election Candidate Withdraws Dear Editor, As most people in Clarington know by now, I would like to officially withdraw from the November municipal elections. elections. It is no secret that the ordeal that I went through with our medical system for the last six months helped me make this decision. decision. I am now recovering from a major operation and will be for the next two months. Maybe the good Lord wanted me to spend a lot more time with my young family. I feel very bad for all those good friends and supporters who did so much work for me in the last year. To them, I would like to say, there's always next time. A healthy George Khouri can serve them a lot better than a self-serving self-serving and unhealthy councillor. councillor. For the record, I would like to wish the other two candidates a lot of luck and I hope they'll keep it a clean fight. Phm. •' About 1% of the world's population 1 suffer from schizophrenia. People with schizophrenia may experience hallucina- tions and delusions which they cannot distinguish from reality. Although heredity does play a role in schizophrenia, some researchers believe that schizophrenia may be the result of a viral infection affecting the brain early in life or from mild brain damage from complications during birth. Schizophrenia is not caused by bad parenting or personal weakness but appears to be due to problems with brain chemistry and structure. By the way, schizophrenia does not mean multiple personalities. Schizophrenia is a treatable disorder. Studies show that after ten years of treatment, 25% of those with schizophrenia recover completely. New drugs are always coming on the market and these drugs show definite improvements over older treatments. Pharmacy staff is a source of good health information.
