Cycle for Autism Passes Through Town The Legion parking lot in Bowmanvillc served as a brief stop during a cross-province fundraiser that these cyclists were involved in recently. The Cycle for Autism group were biking from Windsor to Ottawa, in hopes of raising in excess of the $10,000 that was collected during last year's first annual ride. The group included three from Windsor, and one each from Chatham, Toronto, Sarnia, and London. To start their season the boys played on Sunday, September 28, at home versus the Whitby Wildcats. The Toros came out strong in the first period period scoring at the 8:58 mark on Ryan Zavitz's unassisted backhander. Tieing the game, the Wildcats put pressure on the Toros. Chris Marchant scored on an assist by Jason Cadwell bringing the Toros to 2-1 in the first period. The second period was dominated by the Wildcats with their goal. Wildcats scored in the third period of play at 8:34 and 8:09 making it 4-2. The Toros made a strong attempt to come back in the game on an unassisted Jason Cadwell goal with 3:24 left in the game. Jason scored this from the face- off to the right of the net. The outcome of the game was Wildcats 4, Toros 3. The goalies, Andrew Fudge and Derek Carruthers, played a fine game. The next opponent the Square Boy Pizza Toros faced was East Gwillimbury. The Toros were eager to score the first goal of the game. Mike McLaughlin opened the scoring in the first period period with the assists by Chris Marchant and Jason Cadwell. To make a 2-0 lead over East Gwillimbury, Chris Jukic passed the puck to Ryan Zavitz. East Gwillimbury didn't score until the second second period. Throughout the first and part of the second periods, Derek Carruthers made outstanding outstanding blocker saves. The remainder of the second and third periods Andrew Fudge gloved numerous saves.
